Disclaimer: I do not own Lord of the Rings; it belongs to the genius of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Author's Note: The plot of this story is simple: Before Aragorn goes into battle; he pens a letter to Legolas, asking him to take care of his family. Jenna is my character, I created her to be Legolas's wife and she will be featured in other stories though she's just mentioned here. Read and Review if you want but any Flames sent to me will be directed to Mordor. Thanks!

Should I die

Legolas, as you might have heard, the Corsairs of Umbar attacked a village in the south of Gondor and I am leading a squadron of soldiers there to confront them.

Normally I'd never admit this to anyone, but I will to you.

I'm frightened; worried I'm going to die in this battle.

When you read this, you'll probably shake your head at my folly and remind me that all mortals die at some time, but this time it's different.

I have faced death many times in my life but since Arwen and I married and we started a family I've always worried about what will happen to them if I should get killed.

If you were here, you'd tell me that nothing is going to happen and you're probably right but if something does happen I want you to promise me this.

Take care of Arwen for me, I can't stand the thought of her fading, please give her something to live for.

You and Jenna could always make her smile and she's going to need a lot of them before she can embrace life again.

Eldarion is growing up so fast, in a few months he'll be eight.

I promised him I'd teach him how to shoot a bow but if I can't, can you?

He's going to need help to become a king, help I was going to give him but I might not be able too after all and he's going to need you instead.

Please teach him all the things you taught me when I was younger and maybe when he gets older you can tell him some of our adventures.

I hope I live for another hundred years, see Eldarion get married and make ten thousand more memories with Arwen but if I die, I need you to promise me this one thing.

If you say yes, I can die peacefully because there is no person in all of Middle Earth that I trust more then you.

Aragorn

Fin.

It's up to the reader to decide if Aragorn survives or not. In my mind, he does.
