Author/Banshee Queen: "This poem is set from Rotk where we see Arwen riding to the Grey Havens...and then of course Eldarion in a "vision" ran across her path & she made her decision. The ending of this poem has a bit of a twist so please read on...
Also, this poem is dedicated to lindahoyland & RS for urging me to write more on their "favourite couple"after they so kindly reviewed Beyond The Twilight. Mwha! (Blows kiss) I love you guys, this one's dedicated to you. And though it's been a long time coming, here it is at last." :D
Disclaimer: "I don't own the characters Arwen & Aragorn etcetera, etcetera..."
Do You Feel This Beating Heart
Lost in my thoughts
I trod this silent path
Sitting astride a grey palfrey
Sorrow deeper than the depths of the sea welled within me
I idly stared ahead
The calm motions of the sway in the saddle luring me to sleep
There was nothing left to live for
My heart had been ripped from its domain
My love taken from me
X
All I had been willing to forsake
All I had been willing to give
All I had set my sights and hopes on
All those long years of waiting
All of the pain
And all of the tears
All of our trials and triumphs…
Had disintegrated before my eyes…
X
At first I thought it a mirage
This image of a child
He ran across my path
Caused my heart to flutter
My gaze intent upon his beautiful form
Your stance so tall and proud melted away as you turned
Laughing as you scooped the child into your arms
A warm smile lit both of your faces
I watched on so deeply, deeply touched
Then one moment passed…
And the child lifted his head and looked defiantly at me…
As if his silent message could penetrate my heart
X
It was then in my secret heart of hearts that I was pierced
But that…was so long ago
The soft rustle of the thin satin drapes flying upon the breeze awakens me from my long ago memories
As I look out over the peaceful White City, a small sigh escapes my lips
All these long years everything we'd ever wished for and hoped for without a hope, was finally coming together
And as I sit here bathed in the soft glow of the afternoon sun, I smile
Do you feel this beating heart?
My mirth could not in words be explained
Whenever my lips meet yours in a tender kiss, I see in your eyes the flicker of a warm and loving light which draws me closer to you each day that I lay by your side
I thank Varda for this blessing and this miracle
I feel my love for you inside me stir
And wonder if you feel the same way
So I will ask you Melamin…
Do you feel this beating heart…
…As I press your palm to my stomach?
Author/Banshee Queen: "Ha ha! Didn't I tell you there was a twist to the poem? Let me know your opinion."
