Isabel Night
The moon god illuminates the night
As Tara dots the sky
Wind whispers around her hair
Asking me how--
Moreover, why
I do not understand it either
If what she is saying is true
Cale, Sekhmet, and Dais know what is best for them
If I had stayed, all four of us would have been used
"You took a huge risk, fighting that emotionally charged man!"
"I protected you, the boy, and the mortal world; it was the late monk's command."
"Protection! Dais was going to kidnap you!"
"Kidnap? Impossible, traitors are executed on the spot."
"Then why do you think he held back?"
"Emotions blocked logical thought?"
"I know he was trying to capture you!"
"Mia, do you have any proof?"
"Not much, but I know what I saw."
"And?"
"In that warlord's mind, we kidnapped and brainwashed you."
I know that we lived for each other
Nevertheless, what does it mean?
To be taken against my will
Said on a whim--
Was I all that they would need?
Why do they still cling to me?
Addicted to the energy of the four
I made a choice--
They did not like
To say it was brainwashing
How hard is it to understand the word no?
Even so, I care about them
I would not wish to see them die
They will live--
They must live
Nothing can be gained without sacrifice
To be free
The warlords must deny me
To save their souls
I would die
However, all four of us must part ways--
For darkness to lose against the light
THE END
End Notes-First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has read and/or reviewed this poem. It means a great deal to me for people critique my work; so if you have any questions, or just want to talk, please feel free to e-mail me. Second of all, in the second line of the poem, there is a reference to the name Tara. While Tara is the name of a sacred hill near Dublin, it is also the name of a Hindu and Buddhist star goddess.
