Due to popular demand, I am writing about the fifth and sixth companies of the Warhawks, who turned to Chaos during Abaddons Thirteenth Black Crusade. Enjoy!

Soon after Abaddons newest Black Crusade, the fifth and sixth companies of the Warhawks responded to the cry for help. To the galactic east of Cadia, the two companies made planet fall on the mining world of Chinchare to determine why the world had fallen silent. The scout teams that had paved the way for the rest of the companies reported that the planets population were found crucified, their hands and feet bound with razor-wire, obscene symbols carved into their flesh. As the rest of the two companies made planet-fall, the scouts found Chaos Space Marine camps. The scouts only found about one-hundred of the vile traitors and a strike was quickly planned to wipe their taint off the world. As a dozen Rhinos and a half dozen Predators sped towards the Chaos Marine camp, the scouts hurriedly radioed back that the Chaos Marines were from the Word Bearers legion. Now, the Chaplains were out for blood. The Dark Apostles were a grievous threat to the Emperors cause and their foul oratories could not be allowed to continue.

The Warhawks force hit the Word Bearers like a righteous hammer. In less then twenty minutes, the one hundred Word Bearers were dead, their bodies heaped onto a pyre and burning. Everything with twenty miles of the camp was subject to pyro-cleansing from the Battle Barge Emperors Fury. Nothing was allowed to remain. The innocent Imperial citizens who had been crucified were also burned. Even if they had survived the terrible tortures that the Chaos Marines had inflicted upon them, the Warhawks could not guarantee they were clean from taint.

One thing had not been accounted for. The scouts that had found the Chaos Marine camp had fallen to the Dark Apostles oratory. They brought their taint back to their companies. Almost overnight, the scouts had turned the companies to Chaos powers. The Chaplains and their retinues were mercilessly slain, their bodies put on the same pyres as the Word Bearers.

The fifth and sixth companies now called themselves the Dark Angels of Sin. To turn the fleet that had brought them to Chinchare, the leader of the new Chaos Marines, Bjorn Death-Hand, said they had underestimated the Word Bearers strength and were under heavy attack and needed extraction. Now, the taint spread through the fleet and new threat bloomed in the Chinchare sector.

As the rest of the Chapter learned of this horror, they came under Inquisitorial scrutiny. To avoid being shut into a prison for the rest of their lives, the remaining six companies joined a crusade against the orks of the Red Moon in the Eastern Fringe. After two decades of service in the crusade, the remnants of the Chapter allowed the Inquisition to test their purity. For sixty straight days, the Warhawks were subject to the most stringent testing the Inquisition could devise. These tests were so horrible; I cannot put them in words. Needless to say, the Inquisition found the Chapter pure of mind and body.

After this, the Chapter under went radical reorganization. The Council was formed so that no one man could turn the Chapter to the sway of Ruinous Powers, and the squads carried weapons to purify their enemies. New recruits are subject to even more stringent purity testing and spend weeks or months memorizing scripture. The Chaplains of the Warhawks are even more firebrand than most other Chapters, and are icons of purity and strength.

Now, the names of every Marine in the Fifth and Sixth Companies are memorized and every effort made to find and kill them. Their names are also recorded deep in the Chapters library. One-hundred and fifty names remain, including Bjorn Death-Hand. Next to each name is a list of the atrocities believed to be committed by the traitors. Bjorn Death-Hands list is almost sixty pages long.
