"Happy third birthday, Riza!" Riza's father, Grandfather, and Mother cried out in unison, as the young blonde blew out the three candles on her birthday cake.

Later, as the child ran off to play with her birthday gifts, her grandfather, a Leiutenant General in the military, sat down next to her father, a Colonel.

"She's a beautiful child," the grandfather, Leiutenant General Grumman, stated.

"Yes, she is." Her father said proudly.

"So...who's the mother?" The question caught her father off guard.

"Why...sh-she was adopted...f-from...from Ishvar!" He stuttered.

"Don't lie to me, Jonathan. She has your hair. She moves like you. Don't tell me she's not your daughter." Grumman said sternly.

"...In Ishvar...I met a woman...named Helena. I was ordered to kill every Ishvarlan I saw, but I couldn't...I couldn't kill her...I loved her. Remember how I was stationed there for an extra six months? That was by request. I got her pregnant, and I couldn't leave her. Not until the baby was born. I wouldn't go, and she wouldn't have let me even if I wanted to. I'm sorry, old man."

"Sorry for what?"

"Sorry for...for cheating on your daughter! And with the enemy, no less! I belong in hell." Jonathan said sadly, sadly and angrily. Grumman laughed.

"My daughter is a spoiled, conceited self-admirer. I'm not surprised."

"But she's your daughter!"

"Jonny, anyone that self-obsessed is not in my family. I guess that's what I get for being at work all the time, though. Your kids get spoiled by the one that stays as home." Grumman said with a chuckle.

"But should I ever tell her? Should I ever tell Riza who her mother is, what her mother is? Should I ever tell Victoria?" Jonathan said, eyes downcast.

"That's up to you. Just follow your heart, Jonny. It'll tell you when you need to do the right thing. It'll tell you what the right thing is."

"I hope you're right, sir. I really, really hope you're right."

The conversation was cut short when Riza walked over to her father and fell asleep in his lap.
