Short, I know. And it's my first Spirited Away fic, so bear with me! Comments would be greatly appreciated, and I'll update soon.

He said take my hand,
Live while you can...
Don't you see your dreams right in the palm of your hand?

Five years had passed since Chihiro encountered the world of the spirits. Yet, although she remembered each individual detail like a permanent imprint in her mind, it was still hazy like a dream. Sometimes she'd wake up, thinking that none of it had ever happened, yet other times she'd scold herself for ever doubting the spirits. But most of the time, she was never sure. And this particular night was one of those nights.

Moonlight spilled in through the half parted curtains in the fifteen-year-old females room, dancing patterns over the furniture and a light draft tugging at Chihiro's chocolate brown hair. A slow exhale escaped her rouged lips as she propped her elbows up on the window sill, cupping her chin in her hands and gazing silently out into the dark garden below, the downy grass swaying gently, wispy distorted clouds hovering lazily up above in the yonder and the sweet smell of early morning dew and pollen. Flicking her wrist, the young woman's russet eyes flitted to the silver bangle watch, before she restored her original position, one silent tear swiftly darting down her cheek like a river. 4.30 AM.

"I can't stand it."

She was surprised as she heard that choked whisper, and took her a moment to realize it was in fact herself that had spoken. She couldn't go on like this. Not knowing. She had to go back. Being a normal mood swing teenager, frustration flooded her mind for a few moments, but soon passed as depression took its place.

"Lin…Kamajii…No Face (Or Kaonashi, whatever )…Granny…"

She whispered softly, tearing her gaze away from the window and down to the laminate flooring of her bedroom as she collapsed to the floor with a thud, running a hand through her hair in exasperation, whilst still rattling off the list of her friends in the land of the spirits.

"The Susuwatari…Bou…"

She hesitated, feeling a hot blush spread over her cheeks at the very thought of the most special character. Almost as though they could hear her, she mumbled very softly,

"Haku…you'd be seventeen physically now…maybe. I don't know how it works with spirits."

The eerie silence entwined the teenager and she spoke to herself to try and distract her own imagination. Still the same scardey-cat Chihiro that she always had been. The fearful side of her was the only thing preventing the brunette to leave there and then to run down to the spirit portal and go back. Shivering, she tugged the duvet down from her bed and wrapped it round her, squeezing her eyes tightly shut to halt any more tears.

"Maybe I'll go tomorrow…"

She found herself mumbling, before her head lolled to the side and she fell into an uneasy slumber, full of the unknown.

Just a boy,
Just an ordinary boy.
But he was looking to the sky.
And as he asked if i would come along
I started to realize-
That everyday you find
Just what he's looking for,
Like a shooting star he shines.
