In Two Worlds: Blue the Half-Wolf
Sometimes, she just wished that Cheza had stayed away from her. Never would she have left Pop's side then, and perhaps she wouldn't be running right now.
As a dog, she had always been happy, as a pup even more so, but by the time Pops' house was burnt and his child and wife killed, life had taken on a new meaning; search and destroy all wolves. Now, she was one in part.
The streets were rough to a human, but less than it was to a stray dog. So, without much thought, she had taken on the guise of one of the many people around her and had gone to asking for work. Before long, she had found herself a job for a small business and had begun earning herself money for clothes and food.
She kept her dog name, Blue. Named not for her fur, or her hair in her mask, but for her bright eyes, she found that in her disguise as a person, she had warranted a lot of unwanted attention from undesirable human men.
It was one such encounter that had her meeting, not for the first time, the wolves that changed her life. Cheza was gone, kidnapped by Lord Darcia. Kiba, the unspoken leader of the small pack was brooding over the loss of the Flower Maiden and determined to get her back.
She didn't want to go at first, that was until she had spoken to Hige. Something about the brown wolf called to her and it wasn't until the pack was separated in the fight at Darcia's castle that she knew what it was.
Hige was the one she loved, and she knew in some distant way that he felt the same, that he would never leave her. Regardless of his story of him having to pee every time he begins to talk to a girl he likes.
Now sitting in a van, driven by a human, she looked down at Pops and sighed. She knew when he woke he may not want her any more, but she didn't care about that just now. All she wanted was to make sure he lived throughout the night.
Toboe, the youngest of the wolves, sat beside her and she could see the hoonest caring in the pups eyes. That one had also been raised by a human if his tale was true and he had promised if anything was to happen to her, that he would look after Pops for her.
He had agreed with her, even though he knew that he was likely to get shot for even trying. To her, having him, the only one she could truly trust with the appointed task, do this was the best thing in the past few weeks to happen to her.
Knowing that Pops would have someone looking out for him made her feel better, and if she could just get the two to like each other, even for a moment, everything would be alright.
She couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen on their way to Paradise...and since she doubted she would even be allowed in, knowing that some other wolf had loved her human meant a lot to her.
It gave her a reason to keep moving with the pack. To stay with Hige. To truly live the way she should have instead of the way she had.
What an adventure her life was and is. She was ready for anything the future threw at her, even if that was death.
A/N - Wow, the third in my series. And I still don't know what to call it? The Wolf Series perhaps?
Sorry if some of the scenes were out of place in the order they happened. I have watched the series once (planning on doing so again in two weeks when I have holidays) and my memory of the last few episodes is kind of fogged in tears and shock. But I loved it anyway.
Next one will be Hige, and that will be a lot like my Toboe story. My one on Kiba though...well, let us say that it will be from the start, but at the end. Sorry they are so short, but they are supposed to be a glimpse, and only that, into the minds of the characters as I see them.
Thanks to those who reviewed the first two stories.
