Authors Note: Woo Hoo finals are over and tomorrow I get to go home!! I don't now how often I will update during the next week, as I will not be spending so much time in front of a computer. I will see what happens though. When I first started writing this, I was expecting to write a Squinoa, but that is taking a back seat for a while. Eventually that will change.

************************************************************************

Squall opened his eyes * yep still here*. He was in a small stone cell, and had been for several hours as far as he could tell. He had been stripped of everything valuable and placed in the cell alone. He stood up and went to examine the bars on the door, but they didn't have any weaknesses. There were no windows in the cell and Squall guessed that he was underground, so there was no escape route there. He looked down at his clothes and noticed that he was still wearing the security guard uniform. * How are we going to get out of this? *

In the distance, Squall could here some voices arguing so he got up and walked over to the door so he could hear what was going on.

"What do you mean you have no hot dogs? How do you expect me to survive on this?" * Zell's nearby* Squall thought.

"You will eat what you are given, or nothing at all. You were trespassing on government property, you have got no rights down here." Spat a very angry voice.

The conversation seemed to die down and Squall heard the trailing of footsteps indicating the man shouting at Zell had left.

"Zell?" He called out slightly unsure.

"Squall! Where are you?" Came the friendly voice in return.

Squall rolled his eyes "Where do you think? The same place you are I assume. A cold, damp cell."

"Any ideas on how to get out of here?" Came Irvine's much fainter voice indicating he was further away.

"None." Said Squall mainly to himself.

"Shit. So what happened up there? One moment everything was fine, the next...."

"We were careless." Squall cut in forcefully.

Irvine thought about this for a second. ".... You're right, we were. We were too over confident. Our plan was crap and not thought out at all."

"What are you guys on about it? We didn't make a mistake. We are the best there is. We must have been set up, they knew we were coming!"

"...Don't kid yourself Zell." Irvine muttered.

Squall slumped to the stone floor, and put his head in his hands. * I really did mess up. As the leader it was my responsibility to make sure everything was went smoothly. * It was then that he remembered the moments leading up to the capturing. *That room. The view. The pictures of Rinoa. What did it always mean? This was getting way to out of hand. *

Squall sighed when he thought of Rinoa; he didn't know how he felt about her. She was...What was she?

"She is someone that you need to take care of."

Squall looked up from the floor quickly. Standing in front of him was a small girl twisting her dirty blonde hair in her small fingers almost laughing, but in a sad way. She was right Squall's eye level and was staring right into his eyes.

"If she stops running, she dies. You have seen it with your own eyes."

"Who...are you?" He asked

"I am no one. Don't let her stop." The girl starting walking to the cell door and when she got there she tapped it lightly. With a small click the door swung open.

"What is she running from?"

The girl shook her head and tears started forming in her eyes. She started to get fainter and as she walked through the door there was only an outline indicating the girl was there. As she was finally disappearing one word escaped her mouth. "You."

Squall sat there for a few minutes trying to contemplate what was happening, and if he was dreaming or not. Just as he decided the whole thing was a dream he glanced at the cell door and saw that it was open. Standing up he headed over to the door trying to find out if there was any sign of it being tampering with, but he couldn't find anything.

After giving up, he decided that wasting this moment to escape was foolish. He left the cell and walked down the thin corridor examining his surroundings. He walked a long a few cells and came across Zell. He was jumping and looked like he was punching imaginary enemies. Squall gently knocked on the steel bars and nodded his head at the gaping Zell.

"Shit Squall, how did you escape?"

"I don't know." He shrugged

"You don't know!" Said Zell exasperated. "Why do you always keep to yourself?"

"..."

"Well anyway, would you mind trying to get us out of here too."

Squall looked around. "Yeah, hold on I will go and see what I can find." He went walking further down the corridor and just casually waved at Irvine as he passed his cell. Irvine just stood there with his mouth open wandering if what he just saw was a ghost. Squall came to the end of the row of cells and climbed a small winding staircase, which took him to a door that looked like the way out. He put his ear to the door and couldn't hear anything so opened it slowly, just a crack. Peering round the edge Squall saw a very uninteresting room. There were a few pieces of office furniture and a single picture hanging on the far side of the room. It was a man and three kids.

Seeing no one in the room, Squall opened the door further and stepped in. He quickly darted over to the desk and rummaged through the drawers. Mostly they were just regular prison records of people that at some time or other had been in the prisoners. Squall didn't recognize most of the names and didn't care. After glancing through a few he noticed his own name and picked up a file, which had "Squall Leonhart" printed in big red letters along the front. * This might be an interesting read*

He looked up and heard a few footsteps coming closer. Squall dashed to the door and pressed himself against the wall.

"So now we have Leonhart, all we need is Heartilly. Unfortunately her father does not know where she has gone" * What do they want with me....and how do they know who I am?* Squall puzzled.

"It is alright, as long as we have Leonhart everything should be fine."

Squall started grinning. *They won't have him for long* he thought. One of the men said their goodbyes at the door and left the other one alone. The man opened the door and walked into the room heading towards the desk and Squall recognized that it was the man from the picture. Squall stepped out from behind the door and kicked the man in the back of the knees. He stumbling to the ground, but Squall grabbed the guy's collar keeping him from reaching the ground. The man started yelling and tried to reach for his gun, but before he was able to Squalls hand got there first.

"Tell me. Who is this Heartilly? And what do you want with us?" He growled.

The man still squirming didn't answer. Squall still holding on to the man with one hand, used the other to press the barrel of the gun into the mans head.

"That won't work. I will die before I tell you anything." Several things passed though Squalls mind. He wanted to kill the man right here right now. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, he suddenly realized that the noise would bring everyone running. Instead Squall let go of the man, gun still pointing at him and let the man get his bearings and compose himself.

"Don't think about shouting for help, I will kill you, and I would not worry about the consequences. Now do you have the keys to the cells?"

The man was trembling with fear, and reached into his pocket and pulled out a bunch of keys. "This one opens the cells." He said showing Squall the keys and holding one out.

Squall pushed the man slightly towards the cells "You lead" and the man took Squall back down the stairs to where Zell and Irvine were. "Now, open the cells" he told the man.

"Hey, Squall I knew you would get us out of here." Irvine cheered. Father both of them had been freed, Squall gave the gun to Irvine and took the keys from the guard. He pushed him into Zells' cell and locked the door.

"That should keep him out of our way for a while." Zell commented. "Can we get out of here now?"

Squall nodded and led them back to the office. "So have you got any more bright ideas, Commander?" Said Irvine.

"We run for it." Said Squall simply.

"Run for it? What do you mean?" Inquired Zell looking at Squall uncertainly.

"The only option of getting out of here quickly is by using the windows and making a dash across the facility in the open." He walked over to the nearest window and looked out. Looking out they could see the road not to far in the distance. There were a few buildings in between, and guards wandering about. "We are going to fight out way out."

Irvine and Zell looked at each other. Irvine was the one who decided to point out to Squall the situation they were in. "Squall they are armed guards. We have one gun between the three of us."

"OK, so straight out fighting is not the plan. You, Irvine, will head out first and lead us to the car. As soon as we are first seen start shooting and don't stop. Hopefully they will be too busy running to get a good shot of at us. We then scale the fence and head off."

Zell rolled his eyes. "You make it sound so easy."

"It will be" g grinned Squall as he started opening the window.

Zell leaned over closer to Irvine. "What got into him?" All Irvine could do was shrug, he had no idea and frankly he didn't want to.

"You guys ready?" Squall called already half out of the window. All Irvine and Zell could do was follow, what choice did they have? The three of them stealthily made there way through the buildings slowly making there way to the fence. They managed to get all of the way to the fence without any hiccups; Squall was the first one up and started climbing the chain link face when a bullet went straight past him.

"Irvine, they know!" Squall shouted as he climbed over the top balancing on the other side looking into the facility. Irvine had spotted the shooter and taking careful aim, shot the man dead. Unfortunately it was too late and he had already sounded an alarm. Several men were all firing at the three of them as Zell was making his way over the fence, when he got to the top he jumped down.

"The car is open Zell, spare keys in the glove compartment. Start the car!" Yelled squall as he watched Zell run down the street. Irvine was still firing shots now not taking careful aim so only hitting a few people. Squall could here sirens in the distance. "Irvine, we have to get out of here now! Give me your hand!" Irvine raised his hand and Squall pulled him over the fence. Just as they both got to the ground, Zell came skidding round the corner in the car.

It didn't take Squall and Irvine to get in the car and they were gone. No one said a word until they were sure that they hadn't been followed and they breathed a sigh of relief.

"So where do you want me to go? We can't go to the hotel. They will be waiting for us there." Zell asked.

"Somewhere out of the way and where they would never expect us to go." Irvine said. After thinking about it, a smile crept across his face. "I know!"

****************************************************************

"You don't think this dress makes me look fat do you?" Rinoa had been trying on dress after dress for a while now and she had finally got to the bottom of the pile. After buying what seemed like a shops worth of skiing outfits, the girls decided to try on fancy dresses.

"How many times do I have to tell you Rinoa, nothing could make you look fat!" Selphie said as Rinoa stepped out of the dressing room.

Quistis nodded her agreement. "Rinoa that looks amazing on you. It is beautiful."

"You think?" she said turning round to look at herself in the mirror again. She started twirling round. It was a pale yellow dress, fairly short, perhaps a bit too short, Rinoa thought. "What the hell. I'm going to get it!" She said in a determined voice.

"Yay, it really does look good on you Rin." Said Selphie jumping up and down very excited about Rinoa's decision.

Rinoa went back into the dressing room and a few moments later reappeared with the dress tucked under one arm. She headed over to the cash register and prepared to pay.

"Ooh, someone is daddy's little girl!" Commented Selphie as Rinoa pulled out several credit cards, and handing one over to the sales clerk.

"Hmph, not really, this is his attempt to keep me out of the way and not bug him too much. I just make sure I take advantage of it!" Grinned Rinoa.

After paying the three girls headed back to the car loading all of their bags into the back very pleased at the day's purchases. "So back to the lodge?" Asked Quistis.

Rinoa nodded. She was exhausted the lack of sleep and the full day on her feet and her really taken it out of her. They had all been very silent during the ride; Rinoa nearly dozed off and was about to fall into a deep sleep when Selphies bubbly voice broke through into her thoughts.

"So do you guys want to go out this evening? I told Irvine that we would meet him outside of the same bar we were at last night. He is so dreamy.... I can't wait to see him again."

Quistis raised her eyebrow. "Looks like you won't have to wait long" The car pulled up into the drive and standing round the door was Squall, Irvine and Zell all wearing peculiar looking outfits.
