Rain in Domino City was a bit like early oncoming night. The skies would darken, streetlights would come on a little earlier than was per norm and everyone would rush faster than usual to get home. Yami hadn't experienced much rain ever since coming to stay with his aibou in Domino – only once, in fact, and Yugi had been home when it started – and was not completely aware of his hikari's favourite after-school past time on a rainy afternoon.
Yugi adored the rain, and often took longer than necessary to get home because of it. He had always retained a childlike love of jumping in the puddles he found on his way home, which was usually down the quieter streets where few people were about. People drove too quickly down the main streets, and he didn't feel like getting bombarded by waves of dirty street water. The rain and small puddles were enough for him. Solomon knew this, and knew to be a little more patient on days like these before worrying about where his grandson was, but obviously no one had ever mentioned it to Yami.
He stood under the awning of the shop, leaning back against the door, arms and legs crossed. A hooded jacket was draped over his crossed arms, obviously entertaining the possibility of going out and searching for his little aibou. His usual arrival time had come and gone, and it was getting late even for him. Yami didn't realize how strange and difficult it would be now that he and his hikari no longer shared a body; with the Puzzle, Yami was always with Yugi should the boy ever need him. Now that was no longer possible. The ex-pharaoh was getting better, but there were still moments (like now) where he struggled with his worry.
Just when he thought he couldn't take it anymore he heard a voice calling him. Sure enough, there was his wayward hikari with a bright smile on his face, running as though the rain never existed. Letting out a small sigh of relief he smiled as Yugi ran up to join him.
"You're quite late aibou. Where have you been?" he asked, catching the smaller one in his jacket when he attempted to bombard him. He laughed and shrugged as the pair stepped inside.
"No where. I just love the rain, that's all – I like spending as much time as possible in it. Dancing in the rain, jumping in puddles – it's fun!"
Yami chuckled as he led Yugi upstairs. "Well it won't be fun when you come down with something."
"I'll be fine Yami," he assured him, grabbing dry clothes from his bedroom. "I've done it so many times and have never been sick."
"Well, let's not take any chances, okay?" Yami replied, taking his hikari's hand. Yugi frowned.
"Where are we going?"
"Bathroom."
"Why?"
Yami turned, a slightly devilish grin on his face. "We need to warm you up. And what better way than the shower?"
