Observations

Sirius Black watched people a lot since he had gotten out of Azkaban. It was a novelty for him to see people in everyday life doing everyday things. He really liked having people at Grimwald place; even Severus Snape.

People thought that he hated Severus. He did, or at least like to say he did. But he found it hard to actively hate a man that had once, long ago, been so important to him. He didn't like Severus, their fights were real, too much had happened for them to ever be friends. But he still liked watching the potions master. Severus had a strange grace about him; he had always had it, even as an awkward and gangly child.

So it was only a matter of time before Sirius noticed something intriguing about the interactions between Snape and Charlie Weasley.

He didn't notice it the first time this particular Weasley had come to Grimwald, but then Severus had only been in and out. Not enough time for much interaction. But this time Sirius and Severus had exchanged foul words shortly before Charlie's arrival. Severus had been there early; brewing potions for the household and there would be a meeting that night.

Sirius had been watching from the top of the stair as Ron and Ginny dragged their brother towards the kitchen when they walked past Snape. Severus paused outside the sitting room and as they past he caught Charlie's eye.

Sirius' brow furrowed all they exchanged was a simple greeting, but it seemed to him as though they were having an entirely different conversation. There seemed to be a familiarity there that he hadn't noticed Severus having with anyone, let alone a Weasley. Sirius wandered down the stairs further and heard Charlie begging off his younger siblings, by telling them he was tired and if they left him alone until dinner, he would be theirs all evening. They reluctantly agreed and headed up to their room.

Sirius slipped in to the kitchen and watched as the redhead headed to the room that Severus had slipped into. Sirius slipped into Padfoot and went to lie by the door. He wanted to know why these two men were alone in that room together. It wasn't that Sirius was jealous, his relationship with Severus had been over long before Azkaban, but it was hard to move on when faced with everything that had happened between him and Snape over the years.

"Heard, you got in a fight today," Charlie stated it as a fact, not a question.

"Yes." Severus was never forthcoming with information. "What happened to your siblings?"

"Told them to bugger off, and that I'm tired."

"Long day?"

"Sort of," Charlie grinned, "but I really wanted to spend some time alone with you."

"I was about to rest for a bit," Severus said, "You're welcome to join me."

"Don't mind if I do," Charlie said before kissing the older man. "Gods Severus, I missed you."

"Me too, Charles," Severus mumbled softly.

"Let's take that nap," Charlie suggested, "and then you can tell me what happened."

"If I must."

"You must."

The two men went and lay down on the couch. Once Sirius thought they were quiet enough. He poked his head in the room and looked quizzically at the men intertwined on the couch mumbling softly to each other and trading lazy kisses before drifting off to sleep. He pushed the door shut and reformed into Padfoot and took his own nap outside the door.
