I don't own any of the characters in this ficcie, for alas, they belong to the great goddess Rumiko Takahashi, who already has all my money anyway, and thus no reason to sue me!

This one-shot is meant to daze, confuse, and depress all of you (gomen!)

Actually, I recently found this on a floppy disc. It was written a while back, and I decided to repost it. It isn't exactly the best writing ever, but hey!

I WALK ALONE

I walk alone.

Through time, space, and dreaming.

My people are gone.

The demons of water, wind, fire, ice, and earth. The deities of animals and trees.

The humans that overstep their boundaries, killing the demons that they find.

Killing each other, and themselves.

Once, I had a family.

I bare my teeth and give a feral snarl at the fuzzy, stinging memories of when the sun shined.

A monk, a lecher, whose hands always found their way to where they were wanted least.

A huntress, wounded in the soul, whose boomerang saved my life more than once before taking it away.

A fire cat, immortal, whose selflessness, bravery, and loyalty amazes me even in these days.

The poisoned rain begins to fall, purifying my mournful tears, as I walk through the years, remembering.

I walk alone.

A kitsune, full of tricks and tears, our adopted child.

A hanyou, defiant to the last, full of foolish pride and stubbornness, passion and mercy.

A girl, a child really, who wore an innocent smile and held my world in her eyes.

I let them die.

Somehow, for a brief flicker, I see the sun shine once more through the darkness as I watch her run towards the all-too-familiar well. The sun comes from her innocent smile as she knows not what awaits her on the other side.

I open my mouth, to call her name.

I close it. Even though to utter one word could change everything. Could make me happy.

Shadows drift across the sky as I stare down at the water running miles below me. The world is dead, so much having been sacrificed to the god called 'science'. More importantly, she is dead, sacrificed to the gods called "fate", "betrayal", and "love".

I fling myself forward, over the edge of the cliff, flying towards her open arms one last time. The wind screaming in my ears is her voice, calling out my name.

It is my last battle.

Into it, I walk alone...

Okay, I like this story. I wrote it late at night, as I was waking up. Whomever can guess who it is... maybe they will get a scooby snack!

If anyone has ever read Song of Solomon, maybe they can tell me- is the ending tragic or Transcendent? Did he die, or did he fly?

Grins okay, enough late-night insanity.

Flames, comments? Worshipful praise?

…Or not?
