Doomed to Fail By: Rebel

The pale skinned woman stood staring out one of the many windows of the tower. She gazed over the vast waters surrounding the island. She had been here for many years serving and protecting her empress. Now she was called to protect her yet again. Only this time her orders were near impossible.

"What is she thinking?" Shahdee asked no one in particular. "She can not change her fate." She moved away from the window. She picked up the two dark, curved swords. "Does she not know that by going to him may only lead him to her?" She stopped in the middle of the doorway. "I must not fail. For surely if I do, destruction will follow."

Shahdee made her way through the halls and rooms. She reached the time portal room and entered. Her troops would be awaiting her on the other side. She started forward.

"Shahdee," a voice called. She turned to the voice. Her empress required her attention.

"Yes, Empress?"

"Make sure you destroy him. He can not reach the island if I am to change my fate."

"Are you so certain you can? You know what is written in the time line can not be changed." She knew immediately she had spoken too rash.

"Silence, fool! Am I not the Empress of Time! Here my word is law! I shall change my fate! Or you shall die trying!"

"Yes, Empress."

"Go now, and do what you are best at!"

"Yes, Empress." Shahdee watched the empress go. "I fear you are wrong." But she knew she would not be listened to. She stepped onto the portal and the sands began to swirl.

Shahdee found herself on the other side. She made her way outside to the shipyard. The troops of raiders were lined up and awaiting her orders.

"Board the ship!" she called to them. "Be ready to fight." She watched as her troops filed onto the deck. "And be ready to perish." She followed and stood on the bow as they were launched.

As they sailed on, Shahdee could feel her enthusiasm returning. Perhaps Kaileena was right. A smug smile came across her face and she called out into the wind, "Wherever you are, Prince, beware. If my mistress is right, it is your day to die."
