This Feeling, and Him

Author Note: This is my first fic ever! It's based on a true life experience. Please review and tell me what you thought of it. A Koumi oneshot, with hints of Taiora, Kenyako and Takari.

Summary: The last song of the last dance... Mimi looks for someone to dance with...

Another slow song came on. I sighed, and got up from my uncomfortable position on a couch. Glancing at my watch, it was already 8:56. The last dance of the year would end soon, yet I still hadn't gotten a dance with the guy I really wanted to be with.

"Last song, folks! Grab your fave partner for the last dance tonight!" A voice boomed out over the loudspeakers.

I wandered pointlessly through the room, weaving between dancing couples. Suddenly, I felt someone tap my shoulder.

"Um, Mimi?"

Oh my god. That voice. It couldn't be. Was he actually going to---

Shut up, Mimi, a voice said in my brain. I mentally kicked myself. It couldn't be him. Had to be some other guy looking for someone to dance with.

"Mimi?"

I snapped out of my thoughts, and turned around. I was sure my face was as red as a tomato, because who I saw was entirely unexpected.

Yeah right. You've been wanting to dance with him all night. You call it unexpected?

I ignored the stupid thoughts in my brain, which was working at 100 miles per hour. "Um yes?" I couldn't think of anything else to say. I mean, I was too, uh, nervous.

"Doyawnadanswimme?"

So, there, I wasn't the only one nervous. I couldn't exactly tell what he was saying, but I knew what he would say. It was simple: three words were going on in my head.

Oh. My. God.

"I mean, do you want to dance with me?" Izzy, the guy I'd had a crush on for, like, forever, stammered out nervously.

"Um, okay." I mentally kicked myself again, for saying such stupid things. But no more to that now.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, feeling a blush creep up to my cheeks, having never been this close to him before. His arms encircled my waist, and before I knew it, we were dancing.

Nearby, I spotted other friends dancing... Tai and Sora, Tk and Kari, Ken and Yolei...

The three words were still in my head, except this time I ignored them.

All I could say was that I loved this feeling, and him.
