Disclaimer: All characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and concepts of the show belong to Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy. All characters from the movie Prophecy II belong to Gregory Whidon and all those involved with the movie.
Crossover(s): Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Prophecy II
Season: Season 7 of BtVS and the end of Prophecy II
Spoilers: Anything up to the end of Season 7 of Buffy and Prophecy II
Pairing: None
Main Character(s): Xander, Gabriel
Timeline: Chosen and the end of Prophecy II happened at the same time. For now, I'm ignoring Angel.
Summary: Xander goes recruiting.
Author's Notes: I'm assuming Prophecy II took place in LA considering its known as the City of Angels. I'm also assuming that at the end of Chosen the gang would go to LA first to recuperate and get their bearings. Prophecy III never happened. This story is unbeta'd so any mistakes are mine.

I'm not sure what it was about the man that captured my attention. At first glance he was simply another homeless person sitting on a corner begging for some change. Perhaps it was the trumpet. All I knew for sure was that there was something different about him. Something drew me here day after day to watch him sitting against the light pole lightly fingering his trumpet.
He knew I was watching him. How could he not? I was sitting against the wall less than two feet from him. But he never said a word to me. It was as though we were both waiting for something. What…I don't know.
We would sit there for hours, him ignoring me, me watching him. Never saying a word to each other. Then as the sun began to set, I would stand up, nod to him, and make my way back to the Hyperion. I didn't occur to me, then or now, that he was in any danger from the LA nightlife, both human and demon.
It wasn't until I got back to the Hyperion and I saw Faith sitting on the steps leading up into the hotel that it hit me what it was about the man that felt familiar. Both had fallen from the paths they were supposed to walk. Both had done what they considered unforgiveable. And both were punished for it. It didn't matter that I didn't even know the man's name. I was as sure of this as I was the night I lied to Buffy about the soul spell. The difference between the man and Faith was that Faith had found her path again.
So here I am, sitting against a wall watching a man sitting against a light post. I have this overwhelming feeling that we are right where we are supposed to be and today is the day I help this man find his path.
"Hello, my name's Xander."
"Gabriel."
