Six slid down, her lithe body wracked by violent sobs that she couldn't control anymore. Gaius couldn't see her of course, not when she didn't want to be seen. He had told her he needed to be alone. But she was there. Because it was too hard to leave him.
Gaius sat still, tears still forming in his eyes. He almost didn't know what he had just confessed and whether it was true. His hands covered his face, partly because he couldn't understand these tears. But mostly because it was much to hard. Too hard to look at a woman who looked so much like Six. Too hard to look at a woman who was bruised and broken. Too hard to look at her, because despite it all she was still beautiful to him.
Six didn't understand these feelings coursing through her body. Of course she'd told him she loved him, many times but it had been nothing but a phrase. Now it became important, now it became dangerous. She shouldn't feel anything, much less love for this man. Love would make it hard to let go when the time came. He was a means to an end. Nothing more. Six wondered when Gaius Baltar stopped being an instrument and became important. But she knew the moment he promised to help her. That woman, lying on the ground. She looked just like Six, but so different. There was none of the confidence that shone in Six's eyes. Not one glimmer of that coy smile that always played at her lips. No glimpse of that passionate and sensual way of Six's. Why would anybody hurt somebody that way? Six wanted it all to stop now. She wanted to become one of the cold, metal Cylons. It was just much too hard to feel.
When had she stopped being a woman he slept with and became the woman he loved? Damn her! This was all her fault. He could've been home right now, on Caprica, in his own bed. Even thought home was so distant now, it didn't seem as if it ever really existed. All her fault, really. He was Gaius Baltar, winner of three Magnate prizes, renowned scientist and Vice President of the fracking fleet. What was he doing in a cold cell with the stench of death and pain? Oh yes, he had to help that woman out. Because she looked like Six, because Six would've made him do it anyway. Because that woman was just too pitiful Without Six, life would be so much easier. There would be no messy emotions like this. He wouldn't be a raving lunatic. But he couldn't live without her. As painful as it was, she taught him to feel.
Gina took another piece of fruit. She didn't even care anymore if this was a trick. It was wonderful to perform a function as simple as eating. That man, he looked so familiar. He had said the word Cylon. What was that? What this man a Cylon? She was a Cylon, she knew that much. Whenever they beat her they called her a filthy Cylon. That name, Gaius Baltar, was just so familiar. Was he one of them, one of the ones who wanted to hurt her? No he couldn't be. He hadn't kicked her yet. He hadn't pushed her over. He hadn't pulled her pants down and…no, no, it hurt too much. Why was he crying now? Had she done something wrong again? He had talked about a woman he loved. What was love? She knew the definition somewhere in her mind, but she couldn't reach it. Like the other memories, they were lost in that red haze of pain. And she couldn't find her way out. Gina wanted to. She wanted to love, to be loved, to feel.
A/N: I'm not so sure if this is a one-shot or not. What do you guys think?
