Chapter 17 – Bullet

One Shot.

It can change everything.

That one shot could be the difference between life and death.

Escaping or being captured.

I had that one shot moment with my mother.

There was many shot fired before that one.

Perfectly placed and perfectly timed shots.

Designed not to hurt or kill.

That despite my protests to Vaughn that I wouldn't miss.

That I would shoot my mother.

I couldn't.

So when I turned that corner and saw her go up the ladder.

That's when the moment occurred.

Do I pull the trigger?

And if I do.

Where do I put the shot?

" Go! I have the disk, ready for extraction." Irina shouts through her comm to Sark

"Copy that." He replies

Irina runs down the secret passage linked to the kitchen, Sydney not so long after see it herself and runs down it.

"They're in some kind of tunnel, it starts at the east. Check from the outside to see where it leads." She tell Vaughn through her comm.

"Copy. I'm on my way"

They exchange gunfire for a while. Neither of them managing to hit.

Irina makes a break for it. And heads towards a ladder which she starts to climb. But Sydney comes up behind her with gun pointed.

"Freeze! Don't move!"

But Irina does not listen, she carries on climbing up. So Sydney shoots.

I actually did it.

I shot her.

It was only her shoulder.

The exact place she shot me.

But did she feel like I felt.

Numb, sickened.

But that was just one issue with that day.

There was one death that day.

Emily's

A true innocent in this.

And if I had really gone through with it.

Their could have been easily two deaths that day.
