AN: This idea kind of came out of no where. I was looking for a Star Wars fan fiction to read, and I thought of this idea. I hope you like it. I think it is a kind of cute moment. This is an AU fic where Anakin does not turn to the dark side. This is in Padmé's POV.
Disclaimer: George Lucas owns Star Wars.
Raising twins is not easy. I found that out quite quickly. It was nearly a month after the twins were born when I came across Anakin feed Leia. I had been on my way to the kitchen, intent on getting a cup of coffee. The twins had not slept through the night yet, and their wailing was depriving Anakin and I from much needed sleep.
I turned the corner of the hallway that led to the kitchen and stopped in my tracks.
There was Anakin, sitting in one of the wooden chairs, feeding Leia. I don't know why it struck me as so beautiful at the time. Maybe it was left over hormones from my pregnancy.
Or maybe the situation was truly beautiful. I wasn't quite sure.
He held her gently, as one would hold a porcelain doll. In his other hand he held one of the bottles I had put away this morning. Anakin looked down at her warmly, placing the bottle into her mouth. She drank from it heartily, watching him over the bottle.
She placed her little fingers gently over his hand which held the bottle.
She was so different, compared to him. He was a man, she a child, a baby no less.
Yet, they were also quite similar. After all, he was her father.
Anakin gently took the now empty bottle out of Leia's mouth and lifted Leia up. He burped her, and wiped gently at the corners of her mouth with a small rag.
Leia cooed softly at him, reaching out a hand to grab his nose.
He laughed, leaning his face close to hers.
"My little Leia," he said softly, brushing her cheek gently.
She cooed a bit more loudly, provoking a smile from her father.
He kissed her cheek and shifted her so that she was cradled in his arms. He murmured to her softly, saying something that I could not make out.
Her little eyelids closed, fluttering open now and then as she attempted to stay awake. The combined efforts of the milk and Anakin's voice gently lulled her into a sleep after a few moments.
I smiled gently at the sight before me.
My husband and my daughter.
I turned around silently and headed down the hall.
