"Who cooked this stuff?" Sano mumbled under his breath s he stared down at the food before him. Yahiko looked down at his food and gulped as if he were about to eat poison. "Kaoru of course. Who else cooks that bad?" he whispered. He popped some of the food into his mouth and began to chew. He squeezed his eyes closed and wrinkled his nose as if he were eating something dreadfully sour. "Yahiko! Stop acting like you're eating a roach and finish your supper," Kaoru scolded. Sano, realizing he would be flattened if he didn't eat right that moment, began popping food into his mouth, even if it was the worst thing he had ever eaten. After finishing, Sano asked," Where's Kenshin?"

Kaoru put down her chopsticks and sat chewing for a split second. Finally, she swallowed and said, "Well, he said he had to go into town to get something, though he wouldn't say what."

Sano chuckled. "I'm surprised you didn't flatten him," he told her. "Sanosuke! You know I wouldn't do that!" Kaoru exclaimed. "I know you would," Yahiko said under his breath, hoping she wouldn't hear his comment. "Now you listen here you little rat!" Kaoru yelled at Yahiko. "I'm not a little rat, you ugly old hag!" Yahiko shouted back. Sano closed his eyes and rocked back and fourth in laughter. "Yahiko told you," he told her. Suddenly, everyone heard a big BANG! and the next thing Sano knew, he was sailing across the room. He hit a plaster wall and went sprawling to the floor. Kaoru had picket up her wooden sword and whacked Sano with it. Slowly, dizzily, and painfully, he crawled back to the table. When he got back to his spot, he asked Kaoru for seconds. At least he might get on her good side again. Yahiko wrinkled his nose in disgust as he thought of having to eat a second bowl of that…uh…stuff. But Kaoru was still mad at Sano, so when he asked for seconds, she picked up the bowl and stuck it in his face. The food dripped down his face and into his lap. And that was Sano's bad night.
