After mourning Stefan for three years, Caroline is finally happy with Klaus when Stefan returns from the dead and wants to continue with Caroline where they left off. So caroline has to choose beteen the two. Steroline story, with little bit of Klaus/Caroline.

When Elena regains her emotions she focuses on having finally been free of the Salvatores. Unfortunately her sire bond isn't fully broken, and she goes to Rebekah for help. On the way to New Orleans she'll also have to deal with some long-awaited truths about Caroline's old relationship with Damon. There are some things even the most compassionate person could never forgive.

This story takes place in season 1. Elena has Stefan and Bonnie over for dinner so she can try to get Bonnie to like him, when they're interrupted by Caroline and Damon who brought dessert. Stefan is on a mission to make sure Damon doesn't hurt Elena but when he leaves, Damon comes back. Elena is intrigued by Damon and lets him inside and learns about who he really is.
