The point of no return
Harry and Zara take their strange journey to the Phantom's lair. Candle rise from the stage. Zara and Harry are both in a boat which moves slowly across a misty underground lake.
Zara began to sing, " In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came. That voice which speaks to me, and calls my name. And do I dream again? For now I find- the Phantom of the Opera is there- inside my mind.
Harry answered, "Sing once again with me, our strange duet. My power over you grows stronger yet. And though you turn from me to glance behind, the Phantom of the Opera is there - inside your mind."
Zara sang back, "Those who have seen your face, draw back in fear. I am the mask you wear…"
"It's me they hear.." finished Harry.
They both sang, Your/My spirit and my/your voice in one combined. The Phantom of the Opera is there - inside my/your mind."
Eerie backstage voices, "He's there, the Phantom of the Opera…. Beware the Phantom of the Opera…."
Harry sang, "In all your fantasies you never knew. That man and mystery..."
Zara finished his thought, "Were both in you…"
They both sang, "And in this labyrinth where night is blind, the Phantom of the Opera is there/ here - inside my/your mind"
Harry shouted, "Sing, my Angel of Music."
Zara obeyed. "He's there the Phantom of the Opera…" She began to vocalize strangely, her song becoming more and more extravagant.
