She smells - earthy. It's the only word to describe it as he nuzzles his nose to her skin, beneath her rich red hair, on her pale neck. Earthy. As if she bloomed from the ground itself.
She laughed when he told her, but then she kissed him. So he asked her to capture it in a bottle. She smiled sweetly, and said she'd try.
She never did.
Now he sees this new girl, smelling of that same scent.
He thinks it must be something muggle-born.
Hermione looks up from her desk and catches Snape's gaze. She shivers, and looks away.
