Staring- by cloudstrife73
Author's Notes: Just a short take on one of the conversations between Revan and Bastila. Originally for an LJ post. LucasArts owns all Star Wars related stuff.
"So, you gonna tell me what's so interesting?" the Jedi asked as she absentmindedly petted one of the dozens of gizka on board the Ebon Hawk, a knowing smirk on her face.
The second woman, startled at the sudden question, replied, "What are you talking about?"
"Come on Bastila. You've been gawking at me for the past five minutes," she said breezily, putting the gizka on the floor. It quickly hopped away to resume its task of filling the ship with offspring.
Bastila scoffed. "I assure you, I have much better things to do than 'gawk'," she gave added emphasis to the word, "at you playing with one of your numerous pets."
The other woman sighed heavily, running a hand through her hair. "Yeah, there's so much to do on a ship hurtling through hyperspace, I totally forgot... unless you want to lose more of your creds playing Pazaak with Mission?"
Bastila's cheeks flushed a light shade of pink. "She cheats," she shot back quickly.
"Ha! You're forgetting I've seen you play. I swear, why would you think it's a good idea to draw another card when you have a total of nineteen already?" She was gifted with an uncomfortable stony silence as a response. Standing, she went on. "Well, if you want to stay in denial about your card skills, fine, but don't think you can fool me," she said, walking over to Bastila and whispering in her ear, -even though they were alone in the sleeping quarters- her breath hot against Bastila's neck. "I think we both know why you were staring at me," she finished, winking at Bastila before leaving the room.
Bastila groaned inwardly as she watched the woman leave. How she felt was wrong on so many levels. She was a Jedi -they both were- and it wasn't allowed, and more importantly, she couldn't fall for someone like that. The light-hearted Jedi Consular was gradually remembering more and more of the past, a past she had no idea was her own.
Suppose she were to give in to her feelings, only to have Revan return and take away the person she had grown to care for?
She wouldn't fall in love. Absolutely not.
Even as she said those words in her mind, she knew she was lying.
