Life was full of tough decisions.

Hinata knew this, as surely as she knew the sky was blue and touching things when they were hot would result in being burned.

But somehow, it didn't make sense.

Why did life have to be full of tough decisions? Why were humans made to suffer so? Was it to punish them for being such a willfull, passionate species, or was it because life could simply not exist without conflict?

It was Hinata's belief that there was very little in life that was worse than having to choose between two dreams. The only thing that she thought was worse, in fact, was having to choose between two people.

Nevertheless, she didn't cry on her wedding day. At least not in front of the guests. When she finally gave up her pretenses and broke down sobbing, it was in the bathroom after the recepition. She sank down onto the floor, curled up in the corner, and let out all the stress and sadness that had been festering in her heart for the last few weeks.

When she left the bathroom, her eyes were still slightly pink, but her cheeks were dry, and the shy smile that everyone was so used to seeing her wear was once again in place.

She had to be strong now. Stronger than she had ever been on a mission. After all, this wasn't just a matter of life or death. Her family's pride was on the line. Her pride. She owed it to them, and to him, to try and make this relationship work. She might not love him, not immediately at least, but that wouldn't stop her from trying to learn how to.

At any rate, she never cried again.
