Enjoy the silence.
Tseng likes to just sit down by himself in his office at night.
He likes to just drop his pen and close his eyes.
He often lays on his back at night, staring at the ceiling while resting on his bed.
When he is at work, he tends to avoid other people a lot. Too nervous, too messy, too noisy.
Tseng doesn't like noise; he's calm by nature and dislikes loud-mouthed people like Heidegger and Scarlet… even Elena.
But not Reno. Because, no matter how talkative he is with others, Reno knows that Tseng enjoys the silence and therefore does everything he can to make him at ease. As soon as he passes Tseng's office's door, Reno quietens.
There is a kind of agreement between them. Reno can spend as much time as he wants in Tseng's office when he wants to avoid Heidegger or Scarlet as long as he respects Tseng's rules:
don't speak unless I talk to you
don't put your shoes on my couch
don't stare at me
But Reno tends to stare a lot when he's not allowed to speak. Because silence makes him ill-at-ease and not being able to brag is a real punishment for him. Staring at Tseng, on the contrary, is a soothing ritual for him. The long, black, shiny hair, the snow-white, flawless skin, the single red dot between his piercing, watery-blue eyes. Everything about him is calm, composed. He's seems out of place, out of time. Because everything around him seems bold, gross, thoughtless.
Sometimes, Reno really wishes he were more like Tseng. But then, when he voices this, Tseng looks up from his desk and frowns at him.
"Yeah, I know… "shut up, Reno"… Gomen"
"You can talk if you want."
"Huh ?"
Sighing, Tseng goes back to his work.
"Okay. Well, you know, I wanted to ask you what you thought of that knew guy, you know, the bald one with the sunglasses. Because, you see, he's boring as hell and I…"
A little amused smile spread on his lips, Tseng shakes his head a little.
So, yes, Tseng loves to just sit alone and enjoy the silence. But, while Heidegger and Scarlet are annoying as hell when they start babbling, Reno's bragging is, according to his young leader, the most relaxing lullaby in the world.
