Death

Opening Notes: This is a vignette of my favorite Stephen King novel, The Stand. For those who don't know, a vignette is a short, descriptive story. Really short.
Death. You never really think of it… it's just there. Sometimes the subject is brought up, but you still pass it off as something inevitable… nothing really worth worrying about at all. Death is always all around me. I shove it behind my mind. It haunts me at night, tortures me by day.
Sometimes, you start to think about death, but something so enigmatic, something so sudden is better left alone. Then why is it when you stop thinking about, it strikes the most. In your time of comfort is occurs most frequently. Death; you taunt it, thinking it will restrain, yet its only waiting for the time of most pain.
Death is all around you. It's just there, a drone to your everyday life. Maybe death is something we can't live without, because in death we finally can stop worrying.
