Chapter 1: Lonely…
"I could never feel more hurt…without you here, my life is a nightmare…"Everything had ended…the tournaments, the teams, even the friendships…everything of my past was gone.
I was 15 now. Still in high school, I know…but the years seemed to be going slow. My freshman year had ended on June 23…and 3 weeks ago, my sophomore year had started.
Lee was a junior and Kevin was a new freshman this year. I was the only one I knew who was in their 2nd year of high school. By now I knew all of the ropes…the pep rallies, the teachers…the projects and homework. Where all of the classrooms were and every hallway and where they led…it felt like I knew everything.
Truth is, I could never be more confused. I was all alone in this grade. I had no one to help me…no one to bring me up when I was down. No one to talk to at lunch, no one to do my homework with.
And this wasn't just in school. It followed me everywhere. The feeling of something missing…someone wasn't there. I felt like a puzzle with one piece lost…shoved under a little kid's bed, never to be found again. A dog without its bone…a tree without its leaves…Thomas without Jerry…Sylvester without Tweety….
Me without Ray.
