Another NGE Halloween!

"Like, is everybody ready?" Toji asks his fellow pilots, assembled in Misato's apartment.
"Why did we let you pick our costumes again?" grumbles Asuka. "I mean… I'm wearing another purple mini-skirt, you pervert!"
"But, like, check it out! It's totally retro. It's a mini-dress, with no bare midriff. And don't you dig the groovy purple tights?"
"Not at much as he would," Asuka says, glancing over at Kaworu.
"I am pleased with my bell-bottom-jeans," he says. "But I truly adore my orange ascot!"
"And why are you talking that way?" Asuka snaps at Toji.
"I'm, like, totally in-character, man!" Toji replies. He gestures to his outfit, as if a simple green tee-shirt and brown bell-bottoms were explanation enough. "But Rei's the one who had trouble with her lines last year…. Can we work on that, Rei?"
The blue-haired girl emerges from the bathroom wearing a strikingly orange outfit, from the knee-high socks to the matching orange sweater.
"I have been thinking," she says, adjusting her square-framed glasses, "that a fictitious word such as "jinkies" does not sufficiently convey alarmed surprise. Might I suggest Holy Sh--?"
"No!" Toji interrupts before she can finish.
"Why am I the dog?" Shinji asks meekly.
Any response to his query is lost as a monstrous howl echoes through the apartment.
"Zoinks!" cries Toji. "Like, what was that?"
MINUTES LATER:
"Okay," says Toji, "now that we've solved the Mystery of the Beast with Two Backs…."
"And we would've gotten away with it, too…!" shouts Misato from the bedroom.
"…if it weren't for you meddling kids!" adds Kaji.
"Can we please go trick-or-treating?" Toji asks.
The first door in the building that they approach is answered by a familiar-looking, kindly old lady with a bowl of candy. She looks from Shinji to Asuka to Kaworu to Toji.
"Oh look!" she says sweetly. "It's Eric, Donna, Kelso, and Hyde!"
"I can't believe this!" sighs Toji. "Do you even have Cartoon Network, ma'am?"
"Goodness, yes! I never miss Inuyasha…."
Toji stares at her, dumbstruck.
"Jinkies," says Rei.
