Hige: The Wolf with no Past
He had not known what his meeting Kiba and the others would mean. How could he! Running was all he remembered, running from the lab of Jagura, running from the rest of his pack, all of whom were dying about him. Running from himself.
When he had gotten the other wolves out of their prisons, and watched as the psychotic woman died, he had wanted nothing more than death. Had he betrayed Kiba and the pack into coming here? He believed so, but what about the others? Tsume was angry, Toboe hadn't believed he could do such a thing.
Kiba just wanted to keep going. Seeing as how they now had possession of the flower maiden again, it all seemed well and good. Though she seemed to be weakening with every passing minute. Kiba seems to think it means she is close to blooming and that there was a need to hurry.
Somewhere along the way, they had picked up three humans. A detective, that scientist woman that seemed fascinated by Cheza, and the wolf hunter that Blue had belonged to.
Dead now, all dead. And so were Toboe and Blue. The runt, their youngest, shot and dead, wrapped in the embrace of an equally dead human. The same one that had shot him, that had tried to kill him numerous times. In the end Quent had forgiven the wolves, even told Toboe he was a good boy, before the last light went out of the cub's eyes. The old man had died not too long after.
Tsume had stayed behind. He said he wanted to talk to Toboe. It was while Tsume had been catching up that the last of the humans had died. Slipping on the rocky mountainside they had to climb. He had gone to meet Cher, the woman whom he had loved. A car wreck had taken her life, the first to die of the group they had formed.
Now he was sitting by Blue's dark body, finding it hard to breath. It felt like someone had sunk their claws and teeth into his heart and lungs. The emotional pain of losing his mate hurting more than the raw mass of flesh that used to be his throat. But he had made a promise to her, to never leave her again. And he wasn't going to break it now, just because she was dead and he was just in so much pain with his wounds.
Tsume was coming closer to him, a look of horror in his eyes at what he saw. Another dead wolf, or half-wolf as the case with Blue was, and the one that had probably betrayed them all to their deaths in the first place with his neck a mess, but not enough to have killed him. Unfortunately.
"Do it, Tsume, please. Finish what Darcia started and kill me."
Tsume was shaking his head and walking closer towards him, saying he was forgiven, that he didn't wish him dead anymore.
Hige smiled up at the grey wolf and looked down at Blue. He grabbed one of her paws in his human hand and kept a hold of it. "I promised her I wouldn't leave. I am in so much pain. Tsume, please."
And then he saw it. The sorrow in the other wolf's eyes, the acceptance. A few seconds later and powerful teeth clamped onto his throat and ripped it out. He had managed to mutter a quick thanks before the killing blow had come.
His body fell to the side and rested next to that of his love's. He was with her again a few short minutes later, and toget er they made it to their own Paradise.
They were both happy.
A/N - Well, here is my Hige story. While Hige is not one of my favourite characters, I loved his relationship with Blue. So, continuing on with my short Blue story, how they came to truly be together, even if they both had to die for this to happen.
As always AUbecause for the life of me, I can't remember what was said between Hige and Tsume.
