Cursing & Company
A/N: This was a challenge fic because I was so bored I asked Beci to set me one. Then it became a late anniversary present… Anyway, it's supposed to be set about 4 years after Season 3. It's not really explained but I don't think it needs to be. I won't spoil it by explaining everything now. The words I had to use were: Tissues, Cell phone, Baby seat, Juice. I used car seat rather than baby seat but Beci said it was okay lol.
This is for you Becs, happy anniversary! (hope it's not two crap lol)
Disclaimer: I don't own any of it, apart from Calleigh (awww) and I stole the name from Beci anyway so yeah…

As she pushed her shopping cart down the freezer section of Easy-Mart grocery store, Samantha cursed the fact that she was wearing a skirt. There had been plenty of things to curse lately – the weather, the lumpy bed she shared with her husband and most of all, his obsession with hiding the remote. Things had been much easier four years ago when they were just two people working together. Sighing, she brought the cart to a halt next to one of the freezers and opened its door, leaning in for a frozen meal. Another thing to curse – the fact she didn't know how to cook.
"I want juice,"
Samantha dropped the cardboard wrapped product in the cart, "Calleigh, how many times have I…"
"Pleeeeease?" The little girl nodded her head enthusiastically, a blonde ponytail bobbing up and down.
"Okay," Smiling, Samantha picked up her daughter's sippy cup and handed it to her, "Here you go, don't spill it,"
As Calleigh happily drank down her juice, her mom finished her shopping, paid, and started out to the car lot. She was just loading her car's trunk when her cell phone started ringing in her jacket pocket, the screen reading 'Home'. Flipping it open, Samantha answered, continuing to put her shopping into the car at the same time. Calleigh continued chattering away to the picture of Roo on her cup.
"Hey,"
There was a sigh on the other end, "Hey,"
"What?" Putting the last bag into her car, Sam shut the trunk, "What's with the sigh?"
"Nothing. Listen, I'm gonna have to go out, work called…"
She picked up Calleigh from the cart, "Do they need me?"
"No, don't worry," There was a pause, "I don't think I'm going to be back for dinner,"
"Alright,"
She was now leaning inside her car, strapping her daughter into her car-seat, which she had grown out of but insisted on sitting in. The front of her pink dress had splatters of juice down it. Sam sighed.
"Doesn't sound alright," Sensing the guilt in his voice, she sighed again.
"It's fine, really, everything's fine. I was just sighing because Calleigh… it doesn't matter,"
Another pause, "Okay, I'll see you later then. Say hi to Cal for me,"
"Will do, bye,"
She hung up, banging her head on the car roof as she struggled to put the cell phone back in her purse. Another thing to curse about. As she was in her purse, she pulled out a tissue and dabbed at the juice on Calleigh's dress, but it was going to stain. Great. The day was getting better and better. The look in the little girl's brown eyes was enough to melt any heart though, so Samantha forgot about it, kissing her daughter's forehead before moving around to the driver's seat. Not starting the car, she took out her cell phone again instead and pressed speed dial.
"Hey Martin, are you working? …. Could you come over? I uh need some company,"
THE END
