A New Dawn
They had shared secrets, and fears, and everything they weren't able to tell anyone else; that night their hearts had grown so close together and now…
They were silent, lost in each others eyes, searching… only God knew what. Slowly as if there were no time to think, to care or worry about, their faces inched closer, and closer 'till their lips meet…
The second that happened it was as if the whole world had turn up side down, all of his priorities were changed, not to say almost shattered into little bits, he gave himself into the kiss and felt her whole response…
But of curse the kiss had to end sooner or later, and it did after several minutes, just then he opened his eyes, almost to a completely new reality and saw her under a entirely new light… the light of her green bright eyes, of her parted lips and her ragged breathing; he finally saw the woman behind the façade, and realized she was one hell of a woman.
Being that not the only thing he saw, he saw, as well, her eyes, which now looked at him in a whole different manner, and that surprised him, surprise that shown in his blue eyes, since he had known Minmey he'd never looked another woman nor, certainly, had expected any other woman to look at him that way, the same way she was doing it right then and there, but...
¡She must have read it in his face! For she flinched, regardless there was no hurt in her eyes, only an utter sadness, the same you see in those who knew what was coming to them but were, never the less, incapable of prevent it from happening; the sadness of that who blame him or herself.
So he lifted his hand and cooped her cheek, taking in the softness of her pale skin, letting the realization be displayed in his eyes, that he needed nothing more, even if he, in fact, did not deserved her, that she was everything he'd been waiting and searching for and even more of it, wondering ¿How had he been so blind not to see it? Not to see HER?
The space between them started to close again, and just as they were about to kiss anew, the ground started to shake beneath them, and the wall that had had them trapped disappeared cleaning their pat
Deciding there were no more reasons to stay there, he stood up and offered her a hand and helped her to her feet
- Thank you- those were the first words to be spoken in, what seemed like, an eternity
- No- he let a soft laugh escape his throat- thank you
- ¿because…?- she arched a brow and looked him in utter curiosity
- Lest just say "for opening my eyes"- he smiled happily
- I'll certainly be expecting a more detailed answer some day- she tried to joke
- Don't you worry, I think we'll have a lot of time for that- he assured her
- I guess it's time to go back in the real world ¿isn't it?- she lowered her gaze
- ¿Can I walk you home?- he offered
- ¿you sure?- she raised both her brows this time
- Can't think of anything better to do right now- said and offered his arm
- I'm glad to hear it- she confessed while taking it
They walked together thru the empty streets not saying a word, doing nothing but enjoying mere fact of being with each other, anything else going unnoticed, even Lin Kyle and Minmey going back into their hotel less than 50 ft. ahead of them
- Well… guess we're here- they stood in front of Lisa's barracks
- Yes, we are- she leaned on the door and eyed him carefully
- So, I guess I'll go report to the base and catch up on what's new- he started his retreat, but was stopped by her had on his
- ¿wouldn't you like to come in for a cup of coffee?- she offered and added- I don't think there's going to be any trouble if they know you were with another officer
- I suppose there won't- he smiled and followed her inside
That kiss wasn't a mere kiss, it was the union of two hearts, of two loneliness' that canceled each other, two souls that allowed them self to live and fell joy in that new found companionship…
Not long afterward, Lisa found herself asking him, "¿what about Minmey?", to which he answer her with a kiss "she was nothing but a dream I had to wake up from, I'm just glad it was sooner rather than later, other ways I'd be missing all of this wonderful reality I'm living in"
The End
