Withina Dream

I haven't seen the movie in full language that I understand and seen only a few pictures and read in depth summaries. This is based on a semi alternate reality of the movie/series Full Metal Alchemist.

Edward wasn't depressed. Life wasn't all too bad. He had a job, a good one at that. He was well paid and had friends. But that wasn't the problem. It was the memories that dwelled in his mind that were the source of his angst. Edward wasn't depressed, but his mind was tagging on his soul.

The incident that changed Edward's mind happened on the event of an afternoon. Snow filled the streets of Munich Germany and Edward was walking stately down the street. Work had been difficult, almost battering on Edward's body and mind. It had been years since he had pulled an all nighter, Heinrich walked equally as tired at Edward's side.

"I'm exhausted Edward. What time is it?"

Heinrich was young and a little winy, though he was maturing. The work of Rocket Science was straining on the mind as well as the body. Edward and Heinrich had scrambled to meet deadlines last night, and were on their way to rest at Edward's apartment.

"7:00 am. We've been awake all night."

Edward said. The snow blustered violently over the street; Edward picked up his collar and pressed against the wind.

The two partners and companions walked down the empty street slowly as the snow built up in drifts against the sides of buildings. Edward hated snow. His artificial limbs seemed to freeze up against the cold and lagged in function when he moved them with force. He knew he preferred Auto mail, but that wasn't an option. Edward had to deal with the next best thing. Edward removed an extra glove from his pocket and pulled it over his right hand. Extra warmth would help his finger functions atleast.

Their walk was long and slow. Neither could afford a car, nor had any real use for one. Edward's mind worked better when he walked anyway, with the scenery going by as slow as he walked. The air was fresh and crisp and the sky was gray. It reminded Edward of his days as a child building snowmen with his brother, though those days were gone. It was these thoughts that made Edward sad and nostalgic. The road was empthy, lonely and ever lasting both in mind and literal. No cars were out at this hour, save one that was speeding down the road. Edward and Alphonse didn't notice as the car sped through the streets. Edward was lost in thought, to careless and worn to recognize the advent of danger when it arose. The car sped towards the men on the street. The driver was in a careless stupor. Edward felt no pain when the car hit him. His thoughts were racing, his dreams swarming. One caught Edward by the arms and pulled him in. Edward was lost into a dream.
