Hero; Pippin?

Note: This is something me and my dad talked about
Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin were at The Green Dragon talking about their adventures with the Fellowship.
"Was anyone surprised when Gandalf showed up?" Frodo asked and Merry nodded.
"I know I was!" He exclaimed. "I couldn't believe my eyes." Sam was thinking to himself before Pippin poked him to get his attention.
"Sam, are you alright?" He asked at Sam nodded.
"Yes, it's just I've been thinkin'." Merry and Frodo looked at him and he continued. "What if Pippin wouldn't have knocked that skeleton down the well?" Everybody raised their eyebrows critically.
"What are you talking about?" Merry asked.
"Well, think about it." Said Sam. "If he hadn't have done it, we would've gotten through Moria without having to fight." Pippin glared at him.
"Well, thanks a lot. I could've gone without being pointed out." Sam sighed and continued again.
"What I mean to say was if that hadn't happened, Gandalf wouldn't be so powerful and he couldn't have defeated Saruman." Merry looked at Sam curiously.
"So, what you're sayin' is that it was a good thing Pippin knocked the skeleton down the well?" Sam nodded his head.
"Yep." Merry looked at Pippin and grinned.
"So…Pippin would be a hero?" Frodo smiled.
"Yes, he would be." Pippin smiled and took a sip of his ale.
"Well," He said, "I wish someone would've mentioned that to Gandalf."
