He looked down upon her as he remembered everything he was ever taught in his lifetime. Ningen were worthless. They spoiled everything, greedy little savages. They desired everything they couldn't have, and despised what they could get. They wished for immortality, but there was a large line between that and mortality...
A paradise untouched by man...
Within this world blessed with love.
A simple life, they live in peace...
He looked up at the large pristine castle. His eyes softened. Home...a youkai castle. A forbidden place for any mortal. He looked down the small child again. The demons of this castle will wish to harm her...kill her. Humans were slaughtered many, many times for merely coming within range of the estate, even before his father's time. The youkai here have lived protected for many eons...
Softly tread the sand below your feet now

He gently picked up the small sleeping figure and slide off the dragon-youkai he sat upon. His black boots gently landed upon the emerald grass as he stood there, making sure the child had not awakened. She lay covered in many cloths, silk. He had paid many gold and silver pieces, some jewels as well, but he cared not of the prices. He...he was going against everything he was taught in his life...
Beneath the shelter of the trees
Only love is welcome here
A simple life, they live in peace...
He walked through the forests, some distance away from the castle. He stopped as he heard the familiar commotion of the nearby village near the youkai estate. He looked down once more to her innocent sleeping childish face. Never again...he couldn't...he was going against himself...
Raise your head up
Lift high the load
Take strength from those that need you
Build high the walls
A new life is waiting
But danger's no stranger here...
His eyes narrowed as he sensed demonic energy closing in on them. He carried a ningen, of course the youkai of the lands would wish to kill her and himself. He quickly made his way down the hill and away from the barrier. The demonic energy immediately halted and seemed to weaken. They were fleeing. He looked to a small hut on the farthest side of the village. He didn't notice the stares the humans sent to him. He ignored the mothers that dragged their children inside the huts as he walked by.
He had no quarrel with them.
No words describe a mothers tears
No words can heal a broken heart
A dream is gone, but where there's hope...
He reached the hut and set her inside the abandoned shack. He stared at her a little longer, her childish face. Her eyes remained closed. She slept in such...peacefulness...He felt his heart tighten with guilt. How...how could he possibly do this? He stood up, gently setting a note on her silken cloths that kept her warm.
He turned away and walked out of the hut, his eyes watering over, but he refused any emotion on his face.
She opened her eyes gently, just as he left the village.
