This fic uses the song, You Are Not Alone by Michael Jackson, expressing why Yami left Yugi, and how he feels. It also expresses how Yami felt after he left the boy. It's semi-powerful, so here we go. Don't get mad at me if it's not descriptive.

Yugi sat on his bed, looking out at the night sky, tears welling up in his eyes as he saw his reflection. It reminded him of Yami, his dark side. He placed his hand onto the glass, and it slid down in sorrow.

Another day has gone,

I'm still all alone,

How could this be?

You're not here with me.

You never said goodbye,

Someone tell me why.

Did you have to go?

And leave my world so cold. Yugi fell onto the pillow, and sobbed quietly, remembering the Pharaoh, Atemu.

Meanwhile, Yami felt the same way as his soul was set free. He seemed lost, afraid, and without a light.

Everyday I sit and ask myself,

How did love slip away?

Something whispers in my ear and says,

That you are not alone,

For I am here with you.

Though you're far away,

I am here to stay.

You are not alone.

I am here with you.

Though we're far apart,

You're always in my heart. Yugi fell into a dream, seeing Yami in different places.

"Pharaoh, why did you have to leave me?" he asked, the dream Yami looking over at him.

"You freed my soul, Yugi," Dream Yami explained. "That counts for something that you did for me."

Yami heard a voice whisper to him in the Spirit World, as he drifted along. It seemed that it was Yugi's voice, sobbing quietly.

Just the other night,

I thought I heard you cry.

Asking me to come,

And hold you in my arms.

I can hear your prayers.

Your burdens I will bear.

But first I need your hand,

Then forever can begin. Tears flowed from the Pharaoh's eyes as he cried out in sorrow, wanting Yugi to return to him.

"Pharaoh, I want you to come back," Yugi whispered to the Dream Yami, but the Pharaoh turned away. "I need you."

You're always in my heart. The dream Yami looked over at Yugi once more, and held up a knife.

"What're you doing?" Yugi asked the dream pharaoh. "Why do you have that knife?" The dream Yami laughed, but it sounded evil, not gentle and kind.

"You always got in my way, little one," the dream Yami laughed. "Now, I'll be free from you!"

"Leave him alone!" shouted a voice, a voice that Yugi knew well. It was the real Yami, standing in the boy's dreams. "You'll not harm him!"

"Oh, yeah?" Dream Yami asked mockingly. "Who's going to stop me?" The real Yami stepped closer to the fake.

"I will," he whispered, grabbing the fake by the collar. He then threw the fake far away, deep into the dream, never to be seen again.

"Pharaoh, I don't want you to leave me," Yugi whispered, touching Yami's face. "I need you." The Pharaoh stroked the shivering boy's hair, and held him closely as he sang softly.

Yami:

You are not alone.

I am here with you.

Though you're far away,

I am here to stay.

You are not alone.

I am here with you.

Though we're far apart,

You're always in my heart. With that, Yugi's dream ended, as he lay in his bed, smiling as five words whispered along the winds, as Yami watched over him in the Spirit World.

For you are not alone…
