Disclaimer: Big shock, I don't own 'em! I'm just messing around, stealin' 'em, cause I can't even rent 'em! How sad is that? So if you still feel compelled to sue, well, you have to have like no life!

Author's Notes: This is an action/adventure, 'omigod, it has plot!' A/M ficcy. Big freaking surprise, I know, more like, been done a thousand times. But this one's got better plot then the others, so THERE! J/K. So be a sport and read it anyway, okay? And then you can rant or rave to me in e-mail. Isn't that so much better then just stopping right now? I mean you already went to the trouble of clicking the link and everything!

Story Notes: I dunno when this takes place in the cannon world. I hate being NORMAL and writing to cannon lol, have some individuality people! LOL, so instead, I prefer my own crazy universe. Let's see, this takes place before the transgenics got found out, before the show completely forgot all its plot (IE, eww, Lydecker made Max after his dead wife… what the hell?) and Max got those creepy emblems on her skin. "Mankinds last hope" like she wasn't under enough pressure and screwed up enough before that!! Hmm, maybe edit all that just out. 'Cause I like when Max told Alec about Ben, I liked that scene a lot. So put it after that, minus the aforementioned stuff, and minus Max telling Logan that she was dating Alec, 'cause that caused to much messed up stuff and too many issues. takes a deep breath Hey, you try saying all that without breathing. Go on, I dare ya, just don't blame me when you die of lack of oxygen!

Summary: While trying to find out information to take down Manticore for good, Alec comes across some files, classified files, which contain information that could change all the transgenics lives.

Rated: PG-13/R

{-The Internet, Age Of Information-}

He ran through the files quickly, eyes scanning the complicated code, fingers finding the right keys faster then most people could ever hope to achieve. Manticore probably should have guessed that computers classes would come back to bite them in the ass. But Alec was thankful that nobody had figured it out. Gee, let's give hacking classes on how to get into encrypted files, and then just encrypt our files better. No wonder Max blew up their base.

He was even more thankful that he had been the best in his class in electronics. Of course, once upon a time, Max had supposedly been the best in electronics, but he had years of training on her. "I'm in! Alright," he typed furiously, "let's see what the deal is with X5-452…"

The screen was still completely in neon green code, which didn't seem to bother the transgenic running the computer. After a moment of scrutinizing the monitor, Alec found an web address and clicked in. "Bingo, what makes up those genes of yours, huh, Maxie-What the hell?"

The page had finally finished loading and instead of holding complicated gene schemes for X5-452 there was a large picture of a woman that looked a lot like Max, only younger. "Hmm," Alec was successfully intrigued.

Scrolling to the bottom of the page, Alec saw that the words X5-452 were indeed printed, just not in the context he had planned on. In large military type, the caption below the picture read 'Maria Andréa Rodriquez, carrier of X5-452, test subject 9.5.'

Alec sighed as he scrolled farther down the page, figuring that he might as well check it out while he was there. "Wrong damn database!"

Alec's original motivation was eluding him, as he couldn't remember why he cared so much that Manticore had thought him and Max would make such a great match. As fun as it really would have been to study our genes, Alec's mind supplied sarcastically for him. And then, as he was only half-reading something about transporting the test-subjects, Alec's brain finally caught up with his eyes. "Carrier? Military, carrier, test-subject… this is-"

Transgenic speed had never been put to a better use, Alec was sure, as he finished reading, scribbled down some information, hit back to the database and typed in 'X5-494.'
