Chapter Two: Whip
At around the same time that the T Car entered Jump City, a young girl made her way to the roof of her apartment building, via the rickety fire escapes. The girl was thin, but not unhealthily so. Her hair was blonde, but undertones of brunette could be seen. Her brown eyes were concealed under the tinted shades of her glasses. The girl wore an olive green tank top, with a silver image of a rose on it. She wore black pants, and heeled black boots.
The roof of the apartment complex was the girl's escape from the world, her escape from anything that went wrong in her fourteen-year old life. She sighed and gazed around, rubbing her shoulder with a hand that was concealed by a loose fitting black glove. Suddenly, the roar of a familiar engine met her ears. She gasped and looked over the side of the building. It was true; she hadn't been hallucinating! The first emotion that struck her was happiness, but that was soon replaced by panic.
She had left them for a reason; she didn't want to endanger them with the finer details of her life and her powers. She quickly went to the shadows, pressing herself against a wall, barely daring to breathe. She knew that at least one of them had to have seen her. Now all she had to do was wait. Maybe they'd give up, not immediately seeing her, but knowing them, she would be found, and she'd have to explain to them what had happened.
Back on the ground, Whip's assumption had been true. It was Cyborg who had caught a fleeting glimpse of the girl. "She's on the roof," he said sternly. He parked the T Car in an empty space and they all rushed out of the car. Beast Boy morphed into a pterodactyl and Cyborg clambered onto his back. Starfire lifted Robin up and soon all of the Titans were on the roof, searching for the mysterious girl who had disappeared from the Titans.
"Whip…Kate!" called Beast Boy feverishly. Somehow, the girl's nickname sounded better than Whip. The others prowled around as well, searching everywhere thoroughly, it would only be a matter of time until they reached the girl's hiding place, and there was no way she could escape now...
