When Mary Lennox came to live at Misselthwaite Manor, it was just like something out of a fairy story. She knew it on that first day on the train when Mrs. Medlock told her about the hunchback and his beautiful princess who died. A manor, it was called, but really it was a castle, murmuring with the echoes of satin-swathed ladies and velvet-cloaked gentlemen and green girls with parrots. Soon Mary found an enchanted garden, and a lost prince, and magic. And, slowly, she realized that she could break curses and unlock doors and bring things back to life.
