Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters from any of the Zeldas. Also I may switch things around a lot. This is my first time writing a fan fict. If I make any mistakes with grammar or spelling please tell me. Thank you.
Double the Hero Double the Evil
------------------------------
The moon was high.
Anxiety rose in Link's throat as he heard his hollow foot steps echo in the vacant halls of Hyrule Castle. Suddenly he couldn't feel his hands. They were locked in a frozen grip around the hilt of his sword.
He didn't understand his fear. He was the Hero of Time. He wielded the Triforce of Courage. Link hated feeling like a wimp considering all his titles. He was thinking of every place he rather be right now.
It was all over now. On the front line of every battle, Link had fought with the proper endurance and strength of a rightful hero. He'd defeated Ganon at the peak of his power. He had been in Majora's yard and showed him who the top dog around there was. Or so he thought…
Returning from Terminal Field, Link wanted to take the Master Sword from Temple of Time. But he couldn't…
When Link had finally gotten to the Temple of Time, there was no Temple of Time. It vanished. Link thought who, what could do something like that? He'd crushed both Ganon and Majora under his boot heel. They were as good as dead meat.
He had to find Zelda.
The minute he reached the doors, he realized there were no guards and no door ward. There wasn't any light inside. It had taken less than an hour to make it from the entrance to the rooms above the Grand Hall. But no living soul around.
Well living anyway…
There came a noise. A soft moan was coming from behind one of the closed doors farther down the corridor. Link froze and strained to hear the unearthly groaning from his side of the door. On the count of three, he would throw the door open and charge in, sword drawn, and hack the living HELL out of that thing. So he counted:
"One…two…" CRACK!
Link never made it to three. The door blasted open, knocking him to the floor!
A mindless Re-Dead blasted right through from behind the door. He could smell that sickly sweet odor of its decayed body. Link withdrew his sword and leapt. The gold met the brown leathery skin in a swift slice, hacking the head square off its neck.
What was that? He heard another enemy down the far corridor also in the left and right.
Re-Deads were appearing from everywhere. They were flailing in an ungainly manner, stooped shouldered and shuffling. Their undead teeth were gnashing, eager for draining the boy of his sweet energy.
"Shit," he whispered to himself. "It would be easier if I had sung the Sun Song." With nimble fingers, he went for the ocarina.
But it wasn't there…
WHERE THE HELL DID IT GO?
He looked up. All of them were cornering him.
In sheer instinct, Link cut through the enemy with his old friend and well known Gilded sword. He sliced here and there, trying at the same time to avoid looking them in the eye.
No. Gotta go now.
Link turned and ran. To where, he didn't know. The Temple was gone. Hyrule Castle was over run with the enemy. There was no sign of anybody, anywhere.
Where could he go? Where didn't he go?
Kokiri…
Yes that's it he would talk to Saria. Maybe she'd know what to do.
Down the stairs…
Take a right…
Catch breath…
Left…no right!
The rug caught his foot. He fell with a hard thud.
Link grimaced in pain.
"Hey you big idiot! Get off!"
Link's ears pricked up. He drew his sword and jumped up, ready to strike.
In the darkness of his situation, there was now a beacon of light. Actually two of them.
He sighed in relief. "Thank Farore! It's you!
