It was a brisk, chilly morning and 6th year prefect Lily Evans was uncharacteristically dozing off during one of Professor Binn's goblin lectures. She was so knocked out that she didn't notice a certain pair of hazel eyes gazing fixedly on her fiery red hair, staring adoringly at the halo of light that encircled her angelic head.

Sirius, though busy giving the girl in front of him a sensuous back massage, noticed right off that James Potter, his unquestioningly best friend, had that puppy love face on again. He snorted loudly. James looked uncannily like a foxhound, drool glistening on the corners of his mouth. And I'm the dog Animagus, he thought dryly.

He nudged Remus, who once again remained the only person listening half-attentively to Professor Binns. "Remus, snap James back to normal, he looks too annoying," Sirius complained.

"Snap him back yourself," Remus replied. But at last Binn dismissed class because it was time for lunch. At the sound of the bell, Lily and James both sprang up at the same time, shook their heads to come back to reality, and rushed towards the door. In their hurry, they ran into each other. Books, quills, parchment and bodies went flying, and as she righted herself up, Lily rounded on James. "Look what you did! You are so clumsy, Potter!"

James wouldn't let himself take this verbal abuse. "Likewise, Evans. Next time, look where you're going! And don't tell me you didn't enjoy touching me," he said arrogantly. He had to hide the fact that he enjoyed that brief one-second moment where their bodies collided and he felt her soft form on his.

"Oh, puh-lease. Don't flatter yourself, Potter," Lily scoffed. "I'd rather kiss the Giant Squid than touch you."

In the back of the classroom, Remus, Sirius and Peter as well as Lily's pals Chloe DuChamp and Selena Brown were sniggering and sighing at their ongoing, never-ending tussle.

"Ooh, good one. Point, Lily," Remus remarked as he jotted down another mark. "Score's ten to Lily, four to James."

"Blimey, Lily's doing well this year! I wonder if they'll have another prank-war again, that sure livened things up. Remember the time – "

"—when Lily out Slick-Eazy hair cream on James' broomstick before practice? Captain I'm-never-wrong James fell off twice. It was bloody hilarious!" interrupted Chloe, who was a fellow chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

"Or when James put burping potion in Lily's chocolate pudding –"

"—when Lily charmed dung bombs to stick permanently to James' uniform – "

"The stink lingered for weeks! James ruined his date with whatsherface, that busty girl from Ravenclaw – "

"Jenna Malone," Peter supplied helpfully.

As the crew reminisced happily, Lily and James glared at each other not-so-happily.

"You are always in my face," Lily said angrily.

"I wouldn't be if you agreed to go out with me!" James shouted impatiently.

"Potter, for the thousandth time, NEVER!"

And with that, Lily marched out, dragging Chloe and Selena by the arms – but not before Chloe whispered to the boys, "we have got to get those two together!"
