Ok, sory, forgot to put the disclaimer in: I do not own The Scarlet Letter, and I don't really know who does, but Nathaniel Hawethorne did, so that's good enough.

Artist

I prison walls, I now sit,

and there my Lovely Pearl sleeps.

How beautiful she is, without fit.

She makes this stony rooms seem bright.

Is this child really mine?

Hanve I brought such beauty?

They will know, through passing time,

this sign will not be my life.

I will keep on bringing

beauty in this world.

By my sin a child is singing;

So by my sin be beauty brought.

This is the first of four poems I wrote for a Literature class. We had discussed the meanings of the 'A' and each of these poems is entitled with one of those meanings, and written from a point of view from the person I believe would look upon Hester in that way.
