When first we looked at her we saw

immorality.

She used to be a thing most scorned

from our humility.

She stood upon that scaffold there;

hoe proud! stood Hester Prynne.

What scandal had she, to hold that babe.

No dignity within.

Yet now she seems a truer thing; both better now, and sure!

The babe she bore is beautiful, testament to her power.

She now is strong and willing,

dealing with her strife.

She ne'er complains, but helps the town

and lives an Able life.
