The death of an x-man
Summary: one shot my first fanfic. The x-men get attack by an unknown force. They win but it not with out it's price.
Disclaimer: I do not own the x-men
Gambit stared into rogue's eyes, her color fading fast. Pieces of metal lay around them. Even as the rain began to fall gambit never left rogues side. Her mouth formed a smile.
"I can't save you, rogue." Gambit felt the tears flooding his vision, but he blinked them back. He would not show her his weakness or his pain. She didn't need that right now. She raised her hand, wiping the tears away from his eyes. A soft touch of his hand made her smile more.
"Don't cry. I won't ever….leave you." Blood began to pour from her mouth, her wound becoming worse and worse. Rogue had trouble talking. Her body shook as she began to die.
"Don't talk, just hang on for me. You can't die now we need you….I need you." "You don't need me."
Gambit set her on his lap and they both watched the sky light up red and orange. The light made rogue seem alive again. The way she was when he first met her, when he saw her smile. She looked at him with hopeful eyes. And slowly he came down to kiss her, their lips joining together once more as if were the olden days. He felt the pain of her power, the stab of death coming closer. Yes he thought now he could be with his rogue, but as her hand came down from his face, the pain was gone. She was not going to allow his life to be killed with hers. Her body lay limp in his arms, almost weightless. He held her close, feeling the anger rise.
"NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!"
The land heard the cry of a lonely man. A man of loss.
