"Ginny, wait for me, I will be back… I promise," Harry said.
"I will Harry, I will, I… love you," the red headed girl replied.
"I love you too, Ginny, more than you can ever imagine," and with that Harry ventured to the final battleground for his survival.
That was nearly a year ago. Harry never came back. Ginny could still remember looking a lifeless body, motionless, cold. She wanted to reach out and touch the man she loved.
She couldn't, she was scared. He promised he will be back. Ginny hadn't got over his death yet.
"Ginny, dinner! Come on honey," Ginny ignored her mom's futile attempt of cheering her up. Ginny scribbled absentmindedly on the parchment before her. For no reason, tears
flowed down her eye soaking the parchment. She had been living like a hermit for the past almost a year, doing a bit of freelance journalism. Ginny is not ready for any attempt at a
relationship. She doubted she will ever be.
She glared out the window, into the rain. Wait, she thought, isn't that Hedwig? Ginny immediately recoiled at the sight of the snowy owl. Far too many memories did the now-old
owl brought, happy, now bitter and sad ones. She opened the window. The owl swooped in dropping an envelope on her desk. Hedwig nibbled on her earlobe before taking flight
again. Her finger trembled as she slowly opened the envelope.
My Dearest Ginny, it read,
I am sorry I lied to you. I can't come back. You are reading this because I am no longer with you. I stated in my will that this letter will be delivered a day before our
anniversary. I assume the year would have given you enough—Ginny wanted to put the letter down, it was pointless, however the next sentence startled her—Ginny, don't stop reading please, hear me out. I know that I have dwelled in your memory for too long, I am sorry I am not with you, but you must move on with your life, find a new
Prince Charming—at this, Ginny laughed bitterly, "You git, I have been trying to forget you for the last year!" She was seriously thinking about throwing this in the fire. But again,
the next line startled her—Ginny whatever you do, you must not forget me. I maybe dead but I will continue living in your memory. If you forget me, then I will truly be dead.
Always love you,
Harry Potter.
Tears flowed uncontrollably down Ginny's eye as she tucked the saddening letter away.
Ginny gently stroked the tombstone of Harry's grave. She visited Harry's eternal resting spot the day after the letter. She bent down slowing, laying a folder the grass before the
tombstone. In the folder was every single love letters she and Harry had exchanged. She patted the tombstone twice.
"Goodbye Harry, but I will never forget you," with that Ginny walked down the road leading away from the grave, never once turning back.
