Summery: After Prom Cordelia and Xander chat.

Timeline: Right after The Prom

The Scooby gang and their dates exited the gym and walked out into the parking lot.

"That was fun." Willow said cheerly.

"I'm tired." Buffy said yawning loudly.

"You did splendid work Buffy." Wesley said to his charge.

"Yeah that's Buff." Xander said with a smile towards his friends' direction.

"No problem. I'm glad everyone had fun and got to keep their brains." She said with a smile.

"I'm going home." Giles yawned. "Night all." He said before heading towards his Citron.

"Same here, I'll give you a ride home Will. Buffy, you need a ride?" Oz asked the blonde.

"I'll walk you home if you want." Angel offered the tired looking slayer.

"Nah, Angel's going to walk me home." Buffy said to Oz with a smile. "Thanks."

"Bye." Willow and Oz said in unison.

"Xander? Can I speak to you?" Cordelia asked.

"Yeah sure." He answered and they walked away.

Weatherly Park

"Xander. I just wanted to thank you for the dress." Cordelia said as they walked along the park.

"No problem Cor. You look great in it." He replied sincerely.

"I'm surprised you even did this. I mean I've been really harsh to you."

"Cordy, you had every right to be that way. What I did… there's no excuse for it. I can't even begin to explain to you how truly sorry I am." Xander said softly as he lowered his head to the ground.

The couple stopped walking and sat down at a park bench.

"I… I…." Xander stuttered.

"You what?" Cordelia asked him, lifting his chin to face her.

"I love you Cordy. I didn't realize it until I lost you." He admitted for the first time out loud.

"I love you too." She whispered. "You hurt me real bad though Xander."

"I know I did Cordy. I didn't mean to. You have to know that." He said desperately wanting her to understand that it was nothing the did that made him cheat on her. He was just a fool.
Cordelia leaned in and kissed him on cheek.

"What was that for?" Xander asked when she pulled away.

"I love you Alexander Harris."

"I love you too Cordelia Chase."

They continued to clear the air by talking about what they think happened to cause Xander's wandering eye.

The continued sitting there until just before daybreak. When they stood up, Xander took hold of Cordelia's hand and lead her to the diner for breakfast.
