A Past Forgotten

Chapter the First: Rain

The unrelenting tapping of rain against a single cathedral style window echoed through the dark room. It was not the light tapping of sprinkling, either, not even one that you could go into to save your life… if you were still living, that is. No, it was the type of rain that came down in buckets, turning the ground into a muddy mess, one that if you went out in it, it would probably swallow your shoes whole. This was the type of rain that the Halloween monsters hated. It was also the type of rain that Elizabeth watched from the previously mentioned window.

Elizabeth, if you had the misfortune of seeing her, looked close to normal. She had long, light blonde hair in a tight bun, deeply contrasting with her black eyes. Sharp fangs protruded from her mouth. She wore a long burgundy dress, with a v-neck with loose corset lacing.

As she was staring through the window, she saw the puddles caused by the torrential rain. She was instantly filled with dread. She had always hated the rain, though she knew not why.

Somewhere, deep in her subconscious, memories stirred, of a forgotten past where her eyes were not black.
