When Sara dreams, he loves her.

Her mom and dad are happy and she's raised in a normal home. Her dad helps her with her math homework and she bakes cookies with her mom. She still visits them for Christmas and confides in them about everything. Everything is how it should be.

When she wakes, she cries and hates herself after.

When Sara has nightmares, he hates her.

She sees the abuse, hears the pleas and screams and names. Her dad hits her mom and her mom gets revenge. She remembers. She sees the blood and the hate and tries to call out, but her voice doesn't work. Everything is how it was.

When she wakes, she ignores her feelings.

When Sara dreams, he loves her.

Grissom is there for her, holds her, comforts her, and they're happy. She makes him coffee and he smiles at her, the smile saying, Thank you. I love you. She returns the smile: Thank you for saving me. I love you, too. Everything is how she wants it to be.

When she wakes, she's angry and doesn't like it.

When Sara has nightmares, he hates her.

Grissom can't stand her, has tired of her inappropriate feelings and screwing up. He lets her go, and she knows she'll never see him again. She wants to cry, but her eyes are dry and she leaves in silence. Everything is how it will be.

When she wakes, she forgets.

Sara prefers nightmares to dreams. They're closer to reality.

She can't deal with hope.
