She never knew that he existed until that fateful day, a day that would change her life forever. For what Starfire didn't know was that there was one before her, another Starfire in another country far away in the east. He watched her from the day she became a titan, even though she didn't know him they were connected for he had fallen in love.

Leonid Kovar was not unlike many other Russian boys wallowing in the glory of the Motherland, he too one day wished to become a soldier but what he didn't know was what his dream would cost him, his place among mankind. He was chosen to participate in a new program that would make the ultimate soldier, the so-called Soviet Elite, an army of Soviet soldiers. He was the first so he would be the guinea pig, but the Soviet government had no idea what they were dealing with, radiation is a thing not to take lightly. The experiment like many other secret Soviet projects was kept on the low. It looked good on paper and it actually was considered a success, Leonid was stronger than ever but there was a flaw and it would jeopardize all of the USSR. Leonid had an uncontrollable power in him and he; once so highly honored by his people would become an outcast. From the day he was exiled he thought he would never be befriended again until she came along.

Starfire had been with the titans quite a while but she never knew someone was watching her and secretly in love with her and it was not robin. When they went to Russia and were caught in a snowstorm she would meet him face to face. When she went out to face the beast with the off the chart radiation readings she fell in the snow and was rescued by Leonid himself. She woke up to find herself in a prison or at least what she thought was a prison. She was more beautiful in person then on screen for he had been watching her on an abandoned Soviet computer used to track the activity of superheroes in other countries. Since he did not usually understand, as Star would say The English, he did not know what she always said. She was not scared of him like the others and that made her more attractive. He would even go so far as giving his life as sacrifice to keep her safe, in those final moments in space he was not alone for the last thing he saw before killing himself was his true love and when he let go he finally felt like he belonged.
