Angel Wings

AN/ this story is to help get rid of my major writers block (and it did -)… It's all sad and stuff…so yeah. And this story doesn't mean that I'm forgetting about my other story; so don't get on my case about it.

Disclaimer: I don't own Slayers or any of its characters.

Amelia gazed down at a small body swathed in white; she smiled sadly.

'I wish it hadn't ended like this.' The young girl thought. She turned to look at her friends.

The two girls cried. While the men just watched with sad faces. Lina finally got up and strode over to the ivory colored coffin.

"Amelia…" She whispered. She brushed a strand of black hair out of her friend's face. "I just wish I could've done more before you- you…" She mumbled before choking on her words.

Gourry walked over and put his hand on her shoulder. Lina buried her face in his chest and began to sob.

Amelia let out a small sigh. "I'm sorry Miss Lina." She said in voice that couldn't be heard.

Gourry guided the crying woman back to her seat.

"I never thought the something like this would happen to her. She was so happy. So free spirited. She wasn't the type of person to let something like this happen to her." Filia said to no one in particular, while bouncing baby Valgaav on her knee.

"Not to worry Filia. I'm sure she's in a better place now." Gourry said while patting Lina on the back.

"I know, but what if that better place doesn't exist?"

"I'm sure it does."

Filia nodded sadly.

While all of this was going on Zelgadis was staring off into space.

"Common Zel," Gourry called, "we're leaving!"

"Alright. I'm coming." He called.

And with that the quartet left the church.

"So that's it. We'll never see her again. Never see her smile, or hear her voice…" Lina glanced up at a too blue sky for such a dreary occasion.

Amelia frowned. 'I can't leave with a situation like this.' She thought. She flew towards her beloved. Struggling to use her new wings. After what seemed to be forever, she finally reached him.

Zelgadis opened his eyes in shock as a strange sensation brushed across his lips, and a voice whispered in his ear.

"Thank you for always being there for me." It whispered in a light soprano voice.

"Zel, everything alright?" Lina glanced over at him.

"Yeah." He replied.

"Thinkin' about Amelia?"

"I guess…"

"I can't help but think she might be lonely up in heaven."

"Yeah, but I think she'll be okay." Zel said as a blush crept across his nose, and a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

From above Amelia smiled happily; knowing at last that he returned her feelings of love.

The End
