Chapter 3
Kanna could not believe what she saw. A boy, a human boy, was playing with her mirror. So she quickly ran up and grabbed the mirror from the boy. The boy looked up and smiled. To Kanna, he didn't looks so bad, but she thought that she'd better watch out.
The boy had black hair with little pointy ends at the side of his hair. It seemed to part from his forehead, which made it look like a half circle. 'He's not a bad looking person.' she thought, as she looked him over. Kanna immediately threw away that thought and began to interrogate the boy.
"What have you been doing with my mirror?" asked Kanna in her normal, expressionless voice that she always seemed to use.
"I'm sorry. It just looked pretty interesting on how it seems to glow and vibrate." Said the boy.
Kanna was shocked. 'How could the boy see the souls?' She turned back to the boy who was waving his hand in front of her face.
"Finally, you were spacing out there." The stranger said as he put his hand back into his pocket.
"Tell me," said Kanna, "What did you see inside of the mirror?" She wanted to know because she felt something odd about this boy. He looked very familiar. He looked like somebody she knew but she couldn't put her finger on it.
So, as the boy was talking about seeing absolutely nothing, Kanna finally noticed that he wore very strange clothes. It was some sort of cloth with stripes on it that was stitched together. She found what he wore on his shoes interesting because they seemed to have a checkmark on the side.
The boy saw her staring and said, "Oh, those are my shoes. Guess you come from a place that doesn't have shoes, otherwise you wouldn't find my feet so interesting."
Kanna mentally kicked herself for staring and immediately began the conversation again.
"So, how did you find me?" asked Kanna as she remembered what had happened before.
"Well," said the boy, "I was fetching some groceries when I saw you just outside our well house. (Wink clue) So I walked up to you and it started raining and now you were covered in mud. That's when I noticed that your funny looking mirror started glowing and that's how I found you."
"Well, that explains a lot." Said Kanna. 'Maybe I should take his soul' thought Kanna as she continued to think on what to do. 'I could, but he might know where I am.'
"So," said Kanna, "Where am I right now?"
The boy looked at her and said, "The Higurashi shrine, why do you ask?"
Kanna thought of the places she had been but had never heard of this place. 'I guess I'll ask what's his name.'
"So human boy, what may I ask is your name? She wanted to know so she could remember to obliterate him later.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. My name's Sota, Sota Higurashi."
