Chapter 5
In the darkest part of Naraku's Castle was his personal dungeon. The musky scent of decaying skin and blood surrounded the area. Chains, ropes and torture devices were everywhere. But in a small section, in the worst cell was a teenage girl. This was the worst cell to sit in because surrounding the girl were dead demon bodies with pure terror written on there broken bodies and Kagome had to sit there for who knows how long.
It had all happened so fast and this is what happened.
Flashback
One minute, she was fighting Kagura and Kanna, and then everything went black. When she had woken up, she was in this cell. Kagome covered her mouth and nose and mouth to prevent herself from inhaling the awful scent. It smelt horribly disgusting like when they stopped at old battlegrounds that still held the bodies to rest.
A sudden squeak made alerted her and she turned around. What she saw made her scream at the top of her lungs. Death, that was all she could see. A rat was crawling out of a mouth from a demon corpse. It was awful. Kagome almost threw up but held it in. This place was horrible.
Kagome called out, yelling for Inuyasha to help her, but she knew it was utterly hopeless. So she walked to the farthest corner of the cell, and cried.
End of Flashback
It had been hours since she had cried and she was beginning to get hungry. But she didn't have any food and even if she had food, she wouldn't have been able to stomach it while in a cell like this.
"I'm useless. I can't do anything and now Kikyo will get Inuyasha while I die in this disgusting place" Kagome whispered while slowly slipping into depression. Unknown to her, someone was watching her...
When Naraku was finished watching Kagome, he smirked to himself.
"This is perfect. Now that she is depressed, I will take control of her. This time, she will not be freed."
He laughed and laughed and failed to notice Kagura listening on the other side.
"So this is what he's planning. This could be my chance of freedom. Naraku, your life will end soon.""
Kagura walked out into the cold night and was off,
(A.N. If you are reading this. Then please tell me if you want Kagura to go to Sesshoumaru and make it a KaguraxSesshoumaru relationship or make her go to Inuyasha with nobody. Please tell me and now, back to the story.)
Inuyasha stood at the roots of the god tree. His ears were drooped and he looked like a sad puppy. He had found no traces of Naraku and every time he almost found his scent, it would then be covered with miasma and he would lose the scent track. It almost seemed hopeless but he would not quit.
Back at the hut, Sango and Miroku were sitting in Kaede's hut. They were discussing many problems; most of them included Kagome and Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha hasn't come back yet, he's probably still at the god tree" said Sango as she stroked Kirara's fur.
"He should really stop moping around and get some rest. He hasn't slept in the last few days." Miroku stated as he scooted a little closer to Sango.
"He's too determined. By the time we find Kagome, he'll be asleep when fighting him." Sango said and Kirara let out a contented sigh.
"You maybe right. But he still won't sleep until he gets back Kagome and sleep probably isn't an issue for him." This time Miroku was a little to close for comfort.
"Move back you hentai or you'll get hiraikotsu in your face." Stated Sango calmly as she got up and left the hut.
Miroku just stood and thought, 'Yeah, she wants me alright!'
Inuyasha suddenly popped through the door and sat down, still sulking. When Miroku looked at his friend, he knew he was really depressed. He had never seen Inuyasha so sad, except the times when he saw Kikyo and Kagome saw him. He smiled and said,
"Did you find anything?"
"No, I can't find anything." Inuyasha sighed and his hair covered his face.
"Don't give up yet Inuyasha. Maybe you'll find Kagome in the morning."
A glint of hope flashed in his eyes and thanked Miroku.
"Now, just get some sleep and we'll try to find her tomorrow."
Inuyasha jumped into a tree to rest and his dreams filled with him being reunited with his love.
The Next morning:
Sunlight hit Inuyasha's face and he woke up with a groan. He rolled over to rest his aching back. But everybody should know what happens if you roll off of a branch. Let's put it easy: Branch aching back rolling over = Oww!! ()
Anyways, Inuyasha rubbed his head and he limped towards Kaede's hut. What he didn't expect was a weight on his back. He looked behind him to see a very squashed pink blob.
In a poof, the blob turned into a spiral-eyed Kitsune.
"Shippou, what the hell are you doing here?"
Shippou shook his head a bit but then his face turned green.
"Uhh, I don't feel so go-go-good!" and he spilled his cookies.
Thus, Inuyasha had learned how to clean clothes in a river while being thrown up upon by a Kitsune. Normally, Inuyasha would have beat the living snot out of poor, little Shippou. But, something felt different today and only gave him a warning.
This confused the mischievous fox and he followed Inuyasha to the river. As he finished washing it, Inuyasha turned around and asked,
"Why the hell were you on my back?"
Shippou looked down and moved his foot a little and said,
"I-I was scared. I-I usually sleep with Kagome in her sleeping bag but now that sh-she's gone..." Shippou burst into a flurry of tears and Inuyasha could only stand in wonderment as the boy cried like a waterfall.
"Uhhh, what the heck's wrong with you?"
Shippou stopped crying and whispered,
"I miss Kagome."
"Don't we all." Inuyasha said under his breath.
"What did you say?"
"Um, nothing you baka kitsune. You must have heard something. Now tell me, why were you sleeping with me?"
"I thought that if I couldn't sleep with Kagome, then I'll just sleep with you."
"Why didn't you just sleep with Sango or Miroku!?" asked Inuyasha while yelling.
"I don't know. Guess I forgot!" Shippou said as he put on a innocent smile.
Inuyasha face-faulted and then shot right back up.
"Just forget it. Let's just go to Kaede's hut."
As they walked towards the village, Shippou asked,
"Where do you think that Kanna girl went to?"
"Who cares, as long as she's gone, it'll make our lives easier."
Back in Present Time:
Kanna got up and was a little shocked to see that she wasn't in Naraku's Castle anymore. But as she remembered, she calmed down a little bit.
Something delicious filled the air and she got up to see what it was. When she walked into the hallway, she saw Souta along the way. She nodded her head towards him as a simple greeting when she suddenly sneezed.
'That's strange. I'm not supposed to get sick a lot. Maybe someone's talking about me.'
She looked around but saw nobody so she just walked down the stairs. When she reached the kitchen, she saw a pile of food there. For Kanna, she rarely eats because Naraku does not feed her most of the time and she could handle that. But she still had a thing for food. Just seeing the food almost made her drool. But then she remembered she was nothingness so she had to act like nothing.
Kanna sat down and said,
"Mrs. Higurashi, am I to eat?"
"Go right ahead dear."
Mrs. Higurashi gave Souta and Kanna white rice, vegetables and eggs. (A.N. That's what I eat most of the time.) When she turned around, she heard a few soft clanks and a gasp. She turned around to see Souta staring amazed at Kanna who was dabbing a napkin to her lips.
Mrs. Higurashi looked down at Kanna's bowl to see that everything in her plate was gone.
"Mom, she ate everything!"
"Is there something wrong?" asked Kanna in a hollow voice.
"No, it's alright. Would you like some more Kanna?" asked Mrs. Higurashi as she took her bowl.
"Yes please."
She gave her a refill but this time she watched Kanna. Like an instant machine, Kanna swooped up the food and ate it all in three bites.
Munching heartily, Kanna looked at Mrs. Higurashi and noticed that she was staring at her.
"What is it now?"
"Oh!! Sorry that I stared at you." Mrs. Higurashi stated quickly while trying to hide her blush of embarrassment.
Kanna was a little annoyed with everybody staring at her. The boy would not quit so she turned around and gave him a death glare.
Souta backed away a little and sat a down at the opposite side of the table. Mrs. Higurashi recomposed herself and said to Kanna,
"By the way Kanna, I signed you up and your going to school today with Souta! Isn't that great?"
Kanna gave her one good look and said one thing,
"What is school?"
